ABC’s mid-season medical drama, Off the Map, recently concluded its first season on the air. The alphabet network’s been looking for a new hit drama and this one was produced by veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. How does Off the Map stack up? Will it be cancelled or renewed for season two?
Off the Map revolves around six doctors who have “lost their way” and travel to a remote South American jungle to help those in need and to try to rediscover the reasons why they wanted to become physicians. The series features the talents of Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The medical drama premiered with a mediocre 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The TV series won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. ABC decided to give Off the Map another chance to attract viewers by rerunning the first episode the following night, in place of a Private Practice rerun, and it retained much of the Grey’s Anatomy lead-in audience.
Unfortunately, that’s still not a great start and subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Off the Map is the second-lowest scripted series on ABC that hasn’t already been officially cancelled, averaging a 1.7 in the demo and 4.96 million viewers. It ranks below doomed No Ordinary Family and just above doomed Detroit 1-8-7. In short, unless ABC really needs to keep Shonda Rhimes happy, there is no reason why the network would bring Off the Map back next year for season two.

My husband & I absolutely love this show, every wednesday we stop everything we are doing & whatch this show. Unfortunaetly it wasn’t enough commercial about this show, not many people have heard about it, we will be very sad if this show would be canceled.
We LOVE “Off the Map,” and we really want to know what happens to Mateo, Ryan, and whether Mina returns Fuller’s affections. PLEASE, PLEASE don’t cancel without finishing the storylines!

I really like the show Off the Map (No Ordinary Family too), it was nice to see a medical show that was different than all the others, in the typical hospital atmosphere. It is refreshing and the story lines were great. I sure hope this show doesnt get cancelled, theres very few that I watch anymore, because everything has become reality shows, and I HATE reality shows!
Please bring it back for another season. It is a great show!! Let’s reward quality for a change.
Hope it’s not cancelled. The show is just great. It was slow to start but it grows on you quickly. The last episode was such cliffhanger. Hopefully we get to see a Season 2. I work late so my DVR has become my best friend especially on Wednesday nights.

I think its a bunch of bull sh**. Everyone I know loves this show. It would be a shame to cancel it. Its leaves you wanting more and more. I love this show, to me, it has been the best show since Grey’s Anatomy came out. I really hope it don’t get canceled.
I love this show as well! I was so dissappointed when I learned that the last episode was the season finale. I agree that this is a unique twist on the medical dramas and the only one I would watch. Please bring it back!
Please do not cancel this show. I am getting so sick of becoming interested in new shows and having the network cancel the ones I like. I love that this show is different from other medical shows because of it’s location. I love that the cast of main characters is small enough that it is easy to follow all the story lines. Best show on tv! I can’t believe tis show doesn’t get five *****stars! Great story, great characters and something different from all the crime dramas.
I also LOVE this show. Besides the news this was the only show on ABC that I watched. The show would have done a lot better if they aired it at 9:00. A few weeks I couldn’t even find it on. I HATE reality TV shows this is a great show. PLEASE keep it on!!!!!
Please don’t clancel Off The Map. It is soo different from the other medical dramas that it really is a breath of fresh air. I have introduced it to my friends on my DVR and they all loved it! And you cannot cancel it after a cliff hanger like that last episode!

I really LOVE this show!!!!! -Outstanding characters and story line. It was becoming my favorite show to watch. I too, DVR it and rewatch the episodes a couple of times before deleting them. I think it just needs a little more promotion and an earlier time slot. 9pm instead of 10pm. I have told several people about this show and they never heard of it but say it sounds like something they would watch. PLEASE DONT CANCEL IT – I will miss it greatly.
