Although its demo numbers have been okay for The CW, The Originals TV show never matched the ratings for The Vampire Diaries. Now that the latter show has ended its run, will the spin-off pick up more of its audience? Will The Originals be cancelled or renewed for season five on The CW? Stay tuned.
The first spin-off of the wildly successful Vampire Diaries, The Originals stars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel. Claire Holt and Leah Pipes guest star. The CW supernatural drama series follows the Mikaelson family, the world’s first vampires who have returned to reclaim New Orleans. In season four, the Mikaelsons are reunited, only to face an even bigger threat: the revival of an ancient evil with strong ties to their most vulnerable family member. After a devastating attack by this nightmarish entity, they must stand their ground and forge an alliance with those who hate them most: Marcel (Davis) and Vincent (Gatewood).
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. I liked the Vampire Diaries, but I have loved the Originals from the start. It would be such a shame to cancel it, and I firmly believe that numbers will go up now that the VD have ended, not just because there will probably some crossovers, but also because it is a show from the same universe like VD. It might take some time till all the VD-fans also “cross over”, partly maybe because they might have to catch up with the Originals storyline so far, so give it some time/a chance, there are so many bad, offensive, cliched shows… Read more »
Didn’t Joseph Morgan just get cast in the new X-men show coming to tv next year? That would be a good indication that at least he won’t be returning for season 5, I wonder if the rest will…

You Cannot Base Ratings For The First Episode For Season 4 Of The Originals On One Of The Most Popular Drinking Nights Of The Year . Saint Patrick’s Day , With That Being Said , There Is A Large Audiwnce Like Myself Who Have Enjoyed The Vampire Diaries And Would Like To See The Story Continue On Through The Originals It Is A Great Show That Will Succeed And Possibly Help Seriuos Vampire Diaries Fans Move Foward. It should absolutely been picked up for a 5th season, this show is awesome. In all reality the Vampire Diaries started off the Original s, basically, so I don’t see how this show wont2 super succeed that show. Please keep The Original s going, I love this show.

i very much agree, more sophisticated, deeper issues, less juvenile, i loved tvd, but actually love originals way more, and Joseph Morgan does such a goodjob with the emotions!
Cannot believe this show doesn’t have as good of ratings as TVD did. Much better show! Love the Originals. Maybe if they would of left the shows on the nights they were originally on instead of moving them to Fridays they would be going strong??? PLEASE do NOT cancel this show. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
