First, FOX cancelled Lone Star and then, ABC cancelled My Generation. Not wanting to be left out, NBC has now cancelled Outlaw. The Jimmy Smits series has ceased production but viewers will still be able to see the remaining episodes.
Outlaw follows a Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer in order to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
The series debuted following the season finale of one of NBC’s biggest shows, America’s Got Talent, and could only attract moderate ratings. In its regular Friday night timeslot, Outlaw’s ratings have gone from bad to worse. This past Friday, the show hit a new low in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.9 rating and fell to just 4.10 million viewers. It was in last place in both categories.

As we previously reported, NBC shut down production last week, supposedly wanting to wait to see if viewership got better in later weeks. If that was actually the case, they didn’t wait very long. Outlaw has been cancelled and the cast and crew won’t be returning to production.
For the time being, NBC will fill the 10pm timeslot with an expanded edition of Dateline. The four remaining episodes of Outlaw will be seen on Saturday nights starting on October 16th. An episode won’t be seen on October 30th because of a previously schedule Shrek special. The last episode of Outlaw will air on November 13th.

I had actually predicted that this show would be a hit when I watched the preseason previews. After seeing the first two episodes, I became a loyal viewer. When I wasn’t able to watch a particular episode, I made sure I would catch it on HULU. The Outlaw is a show that stepped outside the demographic the network anticipated and gained loyal viewership. I can’t believe NBC is cancelling another good show. I actually love all shows with Jimmy Smith and you are cancelling??? WTH!!! To put on another stupid and boring show??? Really?? When does the viewers opinion really count???
I loved Outlaw and I really, really liked Cane. I had all my friends starting to watch Cane, then they took it off the air

You know, this show was actually a decent show, with good acting. Why do the networks continue to try to force us to watch reality shows. Who cares. I have a life and don’t wish to live vicariously through idiots. NBC, you made a bad move first by scheduling it on a Friday night, one of the least watched TV nights. I enjoyed it and looked forward to watching it every week. I also loved the series “Cane” Jimmy was in and it was cancelled too. Bring it back.

Outlaw is a GREAT show. Jimmy Smits is an excellent actor and does an exceptional job in this show. Please bring it back.

I am so sad and dissappointed. I felt it was truly one of the “best” shows this season. How can all that Reality crap stay on air, and a show that has intelligence and substance get cancelled. Must be a political decision. I will know BOYCOT “NBC” and hope others follow suit.
Disgusting that so many stupid shows are on the air and you cancel Outlaw. I loved this show. To bad that being a good guy and showing a heart is not worthy of NBC. I did watch on DVR because of friday night football games but I have watched every epidsode twice and quite frankly its the only thing that I watched on NBC. Will not support your network in any shape or form. You need to reconsider. I hope someone else picks up this show.
Absolutely! They could have had a classy, top-notch show, but they felt it must be sensationalized. I quite watching before I knew it had been canceled. Glad it’s gone.

I’m just plain angry that they would cancel a good TV show!!! I’m so tired of reality. This show was very well done, great actors, and I couldn’t wait until new episodes. Come on — you didn’t even give it a chance!!! Shame on you NBC!!!!!
