First, FOX cancelled Lone Star and then, ABC cancelled My Generation. Not wanting to be left out, NBC has now cancelled Outlaw. The Jimmy Smits series has ceased production but viewers will still be able to see the remaining episodes.
Outlaw follows a Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer in order to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
The series debuted following the season finale of one of NBC’s biggest shows, America’s Got Talent, and could only attract moderate ratings. In its regular Friday night timeslot, Outlaw’s ratings have gone from bad to worse. This past Friday, the show hit a new low in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.9 rating and fell to just 4.10 million viewers. It was in last place in both categories.

As we previously reported, NBC shut down production last week, supposedly wanting to wait to see if viewership got better in later weeks. If that was actually the case, they didn’t wait very long. Outlaw has been cancelled and the cast and crew won’t be returning to production.
For the time being, NBC will fill the 10pm timeslot with an expanded edition of Dateline. The four remaining episodes of Outlaw will be seen on Saturday nights starting on October 16th. An episode won’t be seen on October 30th because of a previously schedule Shrek special. The last episode of Outlaw will air on November 13th.

why in the world does NBC do this. They cancel the good shows and keep the crap. Wake up NBC to what your viewers watch. This is an excellent show and deserves to be on. I only hope CBS picks it up like it did with Medium. NBC is starting to fall off viewers list.
This is a really GOOD show, please leave it on. It has a great cast, quit moving it around so people can find out when it is actually on. It is one of the few new shows that you can really learn about the law and understand what it is about. It really makes you think and it keeps you intereated in current events.PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!
I love this show! Finally a smart, interesting show with great performances. NBC made a big mistake canceling this one. If it had a better time slot it would have done well. Four shows is barely enough time to find an audience, especially when it was moved to another evening. It is a breath of fresh air to actually watch a show that is not a crime drama or a crappy reality show! Ugh! I agree….Netflix may be the way to go when it comes to these networks pulling shows too soon.

NBC you didn’t even give this series a fighting chance. There are lots of great characters and the actors were all very good in their roles. Bring it back please, we need a series with mature adult characters, not more “reality TV.”
Outlaw is a really good show with interesting story lines! I love Jimmy Smits and was happy to see him back on tv. Give this show a fighting chance by possibly moving it to another time or night….

We are watching our taped episode now and cant believe it has been cancelled. The cast is great and storylines keep us engaged. Not enough good series. This is really a loss.
I love Jimmy Smits. He is a great actor and portrays his role greatly. The show is outstanding. Truly factual stories. Please bring the show back.

Outlaw was one of my favorite new shows. Why not take off “Jersey Shores!” I think you shut down production way too soon. Try placing it on another night. Please bring it back!!!

This show was one of my favorites of the new shows this year. Get rid of the Event and put this in that slot. I only watch the Event because they just leave enough to make you wonder about the next show, but it honestly isn’t going to keep me around long doing that. I am not a law/courtroom show kind of person usually, but this is a great show covering some really good topics along the way. Please bring outlaw back…it is (was) a great show that addresses contemporary civil and political issues with a critical view. It is true drama television and needs to come back!
