The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

Finally! Now all NBC has to do is put something good in at 8:30/7:30 Central, and I won’t need to find something to do for a half hour so I won’t catch up to the DVR and have to watch commercials.
Come on NBC, outsourced is great! And you can’t cancel it without us knowing what happens to Todd and Asha, terrible move. Followed the whole season and loved it!
I can’t believe they canceled that show, but are still pumping out boring episodes of the office.
please bring outsourced back!!!!!
Well it was bound to happen. Just out today, NBC Television has canceled yet another new clever TV show Outsourced, a brand new comedy that enlightened Americans on the customs and cultural differences of a country we know little about, India. The show was a real comical window into how the USA and India office work force are similar and yet still very different. NBC, by far the worst network wouldn’t know a snake if it bit them on the ass. Another case in point, this season NBC had Paul Reiser produce 7 episodes for his new TV show and… Read more »
Outsourced was amazing! im depressed that its cancelled!
Why? The writing was clever and the characters interesting. Could have taken hold like Community if given the chance.
Great show. Bad time slot. IDK what else to say. Maybe a different night or a better time slot. Funny good characters and chemistry. I also liked the different cultures they showed. I looked up in a search engine of a holiday that they had showed in an episode. My wife and I were fascinated by it. It had something to do with paint.. Oh well, another good show bites the dust.
I agree with Bob Cain’s comment. In our household the only two network shows we watched on Thursday nights were “The Big Bang Theory” and “Outsourced.” “Outsourced” was a lot of fun and the characters were likable. NBC had it in for this show. Talk about moving it into a death slot at 10:30. None of their Thursday night shows are exactly ratings blockbusters, so in that respect why cancel “Outsourced?”
NBC sucks! People who hated it are narrow-minded and/or below average intelligence. Anyone who has traveled much or worked in a global business should relate on some level. I think one problem was the time slot……even I had a hard time remembering when it was on, but thankfully my DVR did not.
My family will greatly miss this show…..nothing else I care to watch on NBC, so I will record more CBS shows.
THANK GOD!!!! NBC actually did something right for once!
As a foreign language teacher, I love to travel and learn about other cultures. I really wanted to like this show, but after watching it a handful of times, I couldn’t stand it anymore. The humor and plots were lame.
that show was awful- good riddance!
Another stupid move by NBC
Cancelled!! Wow! Totally unexpected. My whole family of 6 thought it was GREAT.
Demog includes four people aged 14-25 and two 25-50. Our 2 favorite shows on Thursday are Big Bang Theory and Outsourced both with brilliant writing and timing.
Really enjoyed the America/Indian differences in Culture.
NBC You Suck!
Outsourced is great!
