The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

im very disappointed to know that this show was canceled. this show is very interesting, i always look forward to watch this show every time i go home. i hope that they will reconsider putting this show back on tv. i miss gupta! BRING GUPTA BACK!!!
I just now got turned on to Outsourced by a friend. We were talking about shows we like and he suggested it. I watched it, and LOVED IT!!! I started searching to see when the next season would come out, and was so disappointed to see it was cancelled. There was SOOO much in the show. The character development, the plots, the hilarious comedy, and the fun plots. I hope they change their mind. As many have said, it was one of the few shows on NBC I have enjoyed and could have helped bring me over. Now the only… Read more »
Shocking decision made by NBC, you’re a disgrace.
this show was great! its a shame it has been cancelled. the ethnic/religious mix-ups were hilarious and also an eye opener. im currently deployed and its has proved a great way to pass the time with my coworkers. when it ended and i heard that there was to be no season to i told my coworkers and we all the the same reaction…”what the F#*&!”
please bring this show back! i’d even follow it when i return back home!
It is really disappointing that there will be no 2nd season. It was really a hit in South Africa but hey NBC is a bunch of dum asses for pulling the show
I thought the show was very original and clever. In fact, I only recently caught the movie it was based on and found that to be enjoyable also. Why can’t a network like USA or UPN take it over? I thought Diedrich Bader of the Drew Carey show was also very good.
I cannot believe this show was canceled. NBC please get rid of that god- awful perfect couples and put this show back on.
What a wrong move NBC. Just when America was getting a little bit of the actual T.V. entertainment, they had to cancel the show. Thanks for the disappointment.
i loved it. damn nbc.
The only NBC show than I watch and it’s gone. Goodbye NBC.
What! Been waiting for the 2nd season only to discover it’s been cancelled! What a bad move! Bring it back!!!
I loved the tv show! Hat that it is gone… I laugh just as hard watching this as I did watching Scrubbs… I felt this was a very funny, relaxing reason to watch tv… hate that it is gone, this cast was a blast!
This was a really entertaining tv show i found it more enjoyable then major sitcoms such as two and half men and the big bang theory this was most due to its uniqueness and im pretty sure if nbc kept shaking things up in the serious it could have been a sucess, i really think nbc should bring this back was really one of the most enjoyable tv shows i have ever seen, i was so gutted when i found out when the tv show was axed as i really enjoyed it and thought it would be a sucess. I… Read more »
