The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

Just as I found something really worth watching from NBC, they decided to cancel it… I’m sure some of it has to do with NBC’s stupidity in political correctness.. I agree with Tim, Fox should buy this show…
I hate this show was cancelled 🙁 I want to know more of Ageet and Madhuri!!!! It’s SO not fair 🙁 stupid people in the US that didn’t watch it when it was launched XD
Just watched whole season 1 – one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a long time – I rarely laugh out loud watching tv, but this was the exception – fox should buy this show.
Those NBC executives are clueless. They cancelled The Event and now Outsourced, i was looking forward to a second season. One of my favorite shows now is Chuck and it is on its last season after it ends I can kiss NBC goodbye! NBC should be called NBI Nothing But Idiots!
Absolutely heartbroken that NBC decided not to continue. Being a person with indian origin, i enjoyed every single episode and thought each actor carried out their character perfectly. Im wondering if the dwindling votes were from the US or outside US. If it is from AMerica then its about time they learn how to appreciate non-american humour. Hope another network picks it up cos there is so much potential in the show.
i loved this show..very sad that there is no season 2!
What a pity to se such an funny and interesting show go down the tube. Having lived overseas (away from Australia) in a similar work environment, that being an expatriate manager of a large local workforce, I found the premise appealing and true to what happens. It seems that networks are willing to try anything new. Pity.
Hello, i’m from europe(portugal) and sorry for my bad english i think outsourced was a great serie, diferent and unique. i dont know about the american viewers opinion maybe the problem it’s too indian for you(you are known for not liking different things) or maybe has a kind of humour that make you think 2 times with concerns of racism(you are known for that too always concerning with possible lawsuits or the politicaly correct) but the serie knows how to joke without offend . I think it has a lot of potencial to be a great serie and to sell… Read more »
I really love this show! It was sooo funny- NBC sucks to let this one go
It was on in the background and I tried not to like it, but now I look forward to it and am catching up on the episodes i missed. Sorry to see it go, same with Arrested Development and Grosse Pointe.
I watched this show all of the time, i couldnt watch it in its scheduled time spot so i watched it on demand. I loved this show!
I am really sorry to hear they cancelled such a wonderful and seriously funny show. Not surprising – they always seem to do that!!! The reason it did not catch on is that perhaps the South Asian community did not want to be the butt of jokes, and for the rest of the not South Asian populous, they simply could not understand some of the undertones. Too bad, if we can’t laugh at ourselves, we really are taking ourselves too seriously. What a shame!!!
I am watching this show for the first time in Australia, this is the only sitcom that literally makes me laugh
I would buy every season if it continued
I agree with everyone else it was a very funny comedy.
We looked forward to it every week. Hopefully another network will
Pick it up so that we have something to look forward to weekly
Besides Modern family.
Seriously? I’ve lost hope in you NBC… Bring it back!
