The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

a bad decision to remove the series….i thought to be quite humorous and i always looked forward to seeing each new episode.
Loved this show! Disappointed that it didn’t garner the ratings that would have kept it on for a second season. The actors were superb, writing was quick and clever – it should have opened a lot of people’s eyes as to the differences in culture aren’t as wide as most people perceive them to be.
Bring it back , come on guys it was awesome…..
This show was terrific ,great humour am already watching reruns ,please bring back.
I loved the show for it was funny and cultural educational. 🙁
We had been waiting for the new season and thought maybe it was going to show up soon, only to find that it was cancelled. Are they crazy? It was LOL fun, enlightening. The characters and all their idiosyncrasy’s made it so . We looked forward to it every week, and at times we could not watch it within 24 hr, but most time we did. NBC used to be on top and now they are at the bottom and when they cancel shows like this, I see why. There are so many reality and crime shows on TV show… Read more »
I could not aggry more on this! I hate all the usual series with crimes and drama.. bring back the humor! It really make me laugh at tv for a long time!
I’m of Indian origin, but hail from Durban, South Africa… loved this show, really made the whole family here laugh, and made things at work easier with other staff members who used to watch it.
Not sure what the motive of canning this program is, but there sure will be a void to fill in that time slot.
Pitty money, and not common sense, ruled this one out.
My whole family watched, and really enjoyed the show .We where waiting for the new season, only to discover the network had pulled ,yet another show we enjoyed!People WHERE watching ,but many due to our busy life styles , are not able to watch our DVR recording within 24 hrs ,in turn, I have been told, gives the show no credits for viewers. Poor way of doing it . It was one of the best shows on reg.network TV. We’ll take our viewing in that time slot back to cable networks!
Yayyyy! I was outsourced so I hated the show and am glad to see it’s over.. NBC wasn’t smart to put on something that really struck a nerve with a lot of people. Globalization has caused High unemployment and lousy customer service so I’m happy it was cancelled
Too bad. Loved the show and all the quirky little characters. Can’t believe the ratings were that much lower than so much of the crap on tv right now.
We loved that show… sorry to see it leave the airwaves.
It was a breath of fresh air. A series that didn’t focus on T & A, also gave a face to the people who I encounter on the phone every time I think I’m calling an ‘American’ company.
I think it is a really good serie. You can find a big shock of cultures in a funny way. The comments are pretty clever and the environment invites you to feel another atmosohere totally different from what we are used to. I really would like to know how the main characters develop their new lives in the second and apparently cancelled season.
Bring it BAck! this is just another example why tv is losing to netflix…. bad decision!
I got a copy of this sitcom before it was aired on South Africa TV and I enjoyed every episode. I WANT A SEASON 2, you can’t leave it in the middle of no where……….
