The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

This is horrible, every time I like a show it is canceled. This show was humorous but also realistic in depicting the culture. I learned something about Indian culture on almost every episode an am now using the Indian headshake/nod.
I think they are making a mistake.
This was clearly one of the funniest shows on television. It amazes me that stupid shows like Community continue to be aired, but something as clever and entertaining as Outsourced is canceled. I fault NBC for not effectively promoting the show and I hope another network picks it up. I’m hugely disappointed and hope to see cast members in other endeavors. I’m off to cry………………………………..
Seriously? The one show I connect with the most. I don’t think I can watch NBC anymore if they keep cancelling all my shows. Somebody better hear this! Please make more Outsourced.
Outsourced was the best show NBC had now they suck! I swear to never watch an nbc show again!!!! LONG LIVE OUTSOURCED!!!!!
I love outsourced!! I hate how they’re canceling it…that was my favorite show on the whole channel…hmm..don’t think I’ll be watching NBC anymore…so many people I know are also disappointed…..:-/
So pissed! I hope that another network picks up outsourced… It’s the only show enjoyed on NBC.
i deeply regret the cancellation of “outsourced”….with the limited programs that actually entertain, it is too bad since this show did that! Entertain!!! It was funny and had multiple story lines to focus on as well as creating great characters…in a shrinking market of good shows, it is regretable that this great show is cancelled. I just consider those who have the power to cancell and wonder how pompous and lacking humor they really are.
I am so disappointed outsourced was cancelled!! the characters were getting more interesting by the week and the chemistry was great. I wish the cast better luck – on another network!
Well, no reason to watch NBC anymore, that was the only show that I watched on that channel.
I loved Outsourced, they should bring it back for season two.
I’m really going to miss Outsourced.
I am the biggest German fan of this show and a lot of my friends like it as well. It`s a pity that it is cancelled. The show was even shown in some parts of Asia and even there people like humorous style of the show. People all over the world are missing a second season. Big mistake!
Outsourced is a funny show full of likeable characters. The chemistry worked and I think NBC is making a big mistake in cancelling it. I agree with other posters…crappy shows stay while good ones get cancelled. Outsourced had high ratings, so instead of letting it succeed, they move it to a different night and give it a timeslot normally reserved for dramas and reality shows. Too bad Tina Fey didn’t make a cameo appearance…we’d have had it with us for another five years.

another great show ending.
I thought Community was getting stale and I loved Outsourced.
The 10:30 PM timeslot was not helping!! I am surprised they didn’t keep it in case The office takes a nose dive without Steve Carell.
The show was funy and was allowing us to see a bit of Indian culture in a funny way. Darn it. I already miss Gupta. He was hysterical.
