Discovery Communication’s Velocity, a cable network for men who love cars, airs its world premiere of the final season of Overhaulin‘, November 4 at 9 PM ET/PT. Overhaulin’, hosted by Chip Foose, will air four final episodes, before series end. While no one is saying the show is cancelled, the press release makes it clear that Overhaulin’ is driving to its final destination — a TV series finale. For fans, there is little difference between an ending and an official cancellation.
The four-episode season nine kicks off with special guests Johnny Depp and Amber Heard (and her 1968 red Ford Mustang) appearing in the season nine premiere, and once more, before the series finale.

Velocity Says Goodbye to Iconic Automotive Series OVERHAULIN’ With Star-Studded Final Episodes
Hollywood Stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Star in the First of Four Final Episodes Beginning Wednesday, November 4 at 9 PM ET/PT Only on Velocity
This November, Velocity is taking OVERHAULIN’, the series that embodies the emotional connection between man and machine, for one last ride. As the series makes its way into the garage one final time, Velocity is celebrating the undeniable legacy of OVERHAULIN’ with four all-new episodes, two of which feature movie stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and retired U.S. Navy SEAL and “Lone Survivor” co-author Marcus Luttrell. Additionally, Velocity is dipping into series history with a special “Say It Ain’t OVERHAULIN’” marathon that counts down fans’ 20 favorite episodes since the franchise began in 2004.
“OVERHAULIN’ has left an indelible mark on television audiences and car culture over the past 11 years,” said Robert Scanlon, General Manager of Velocity and Automotive Content. “Chip Foose and his team have made so many dreams come true, creating unforgettable cars and TV moments. We’re sad to see the series come to a close, but as car lovers we’re excited to appreciate the beauty of Chip’s creations and the powerful legacy of OVERHAULIN’ from afar.”
Since 2004 OVERHAULIN’ has changed the lives of more than 100 car owners by transforming their beloved but rundown rides. Through the years countless family members and friends have surprised their deserving loved ones with the amazing imagination of renowned car designer Chip Foose, the cunning of co-host Chris Jacobs and the hard work of the A-Team that have defined the OVERHAULIN’ franchise.
In the first of the final four episodes, Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp enlists the help of Foose, Jacobs, co-hosts Arianny Celeste and Adrienne Janic, and the A-Team to overhaul his wife’s beloved 1967 Ford Mustang. For more than a decade, Depp’s wife, Amber Heard, has cherished the ’68 Mustang. Since then the car has been stolen twice and fallen into disrepair. With guidance from Heard’s father, Depp turns to Foose and the team to surprise Amber with a Mustang that’s been brought back to life with the classic OVERHAULIN’ touch. New episodes of OVERHAULIN’ world premiere on Velocity Wednesday, November 4 at 9 PM ET/PT.
In addition to the final episodes Velocity is taking a ride down memory lane with “Say It Ain’t OVERHAULIN’”, a two day marathon of viewers’ favorite episodes on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 beginning at 2 PM ET/PT. Audiences will enjoy the top 20 highest-rated episodes of the series that reach back as far as 2004 for an episode featuring a 1952 GMC Truck, as well as deserving builds of a 1964 Impala from season three, a 1970 El Camino from season six, a classic 1957 Corvette and much more.

What do you think? Did you watch Velocity’s show, Overhaulin’? Would you have watched a tenth season?
Johnny depp was high as hell in that episode. Also why the hell are they overhaulin a car owned by TWO enormously wealthy people that could pay Foose with the loose change in their pockets? And wtf shop had the car for two years and did nothing?
I watched from the very first show on Discovery Channel and i have followed it from the Discovery Chanel velocity I purchased cable just to get to see overhauling it’s one of the classiest shows on TV for car guys and gals I would watch it for the 10th 11th 12th 13th or 14th or 15th season one reason I like it they don’tdiscriminate with the people that they pick or choosechoose every body has a chance to get their car, truck, antique , rat rod its just that show on the you should get the show on the air… Read more »
Velocity, what are you thinking? There are so many terrible shows on Velocity, why get rid of the good ones? Dump Dallas Car Sharks or Wheeler Dealers! Overhauling, Bitchin’ Cars and Chasing Classic cars are the best, Would love to see more of these three shows. Overhauling is such a class show, no swearing! I don’t have to listen to a lot of beeps. Reconsider and keep Overhauling.,
Most certainly, the best car show on television. I wouldn’t let those clowns on the other shows check my oil. Too much facial hair, tatoos and grab assin’ for my taste.
As others have said, this is a mistake and they will loose viewers as a result. Chip and the A-team help the average person achieve their dream car and the stories are always interesting. There are at least 3, maybe 4 shows that they could cancel and hardly anyone would miss.
Maybe Overhaulin can move to another channel just like Mecum did a couple of years ago.
Very disappointed that Overhaulin is calling it quits – best auto refab show on T V – Chip is down to earth and a master at his craft. I hope it was not Chip’s choice to quit – and hopefully another network / cable channel picks it up.
i think that canceling this show is a huge mistake! I can think of several shows, which I guess will continue, are not nearly as entertaining as OverHaulin’
A Very poor decision gentleman!!!
The Overhaulin show on Velocity is the best automotive show on TV and I believe that there are a lot of other shows that should be canceled first. I always watch the show when it is on or I record it so I can watch it later. Chip Foose and his team are the most professional and talented automotive people that I know and it will be a shame and a mistake for the show not to be on TV. I think that this may cost the Velocity channel viewers. I wish Chip and the A Team the best in… Read more »
If the decision to end the series was made by an executive, you need a new executive. What a colossal mistake. I found Velocity because of this show. I come back to Velocity because of this show. All of the other shows on the channel are time fillers between Overhaulin episodes. The channel should be named Overhaulin not Velocity. The only positive in this is the hype that will build over the next few months until they bring the show back under the headline “Velocity corrects programming blunder bringing the beloved Overhaulin series”.
Letting go a truly iconic “car-guy-show” with an up-beat and positive message is a colossal
misstep by Velocity. The works of art and “family” that were created was truly inspiring. Seems the rest of the majority of car shows were all soap operas trying to build a car- total waste of time. Well back to the history channel…
WHY????????
It sucks that you guys canceled this show . It is one of the best shows on tv . Some of the other shows that have replaced overhauling suck. For example Dallas car shark . Wheeler dealer. Wheels that fail . What’s my car worth . Garage squad. These shows do not come close to over haulin. Please bring it back. Foose is the best. He does it right. No junk comes from foose . Bob
I contiually watch Overhaulin on Velocity every week, no matter how many times I have watched an episode they never get old. I am alwzys amazed at the talent and care that Chip and the A Team put into each build
I would watch new seasons for the rest of my life!
I have been a loyal fan of the show since season one and never tire of watching new episodes or reruns as the crew and cars are second to none. It is not often that viewers are provided not only access to incredible builds but also to the humanity and genuine compassion of the builders, more specifically Chip as he often is just as emotional as the owner of the overhauled car. Obviously, I will miss the show. What is not obvious is the anger that I feel over the cancellation; didn’t expect that as “it’s just a show”. But,… Read more »
It is a shame they’re canceling overhauling I think it’s the best car show on TV I wish they would reconsider and bring it back.
