The peacock network has ordered a sixth season of Parks and Recreation. Thus far, it’s the only comedy to be renewed by NBC this season.
Revolving around the parks department of fictional Pawnee, Indiana, Parks and Recreation has been on the air since April 2009. The current cast includes Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir, and Retta.
Of all of the NBC comedies, Parks and Recreation was considered to be the only lock for renewal. Though its ratings are down year-to-year, the sitcom is one of the network’s best comedy performers and currently averages a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.31 million viewers.
Parks co-creator Mike Schur joked about the renewal and said, “We finished season five, thought about skipping right to season seven, but NBC suggested we just go sequentially, which is smart, so we’re going to go ahead and do Season Six.”
The fates of Go On, The New Normal, Guys with Kids, Whitney, Up All Night, and 1600 Penn are still up in the air.
What do you think? Do you like Parks and Rec? Do you think season six should be the end?
I find this show very funny and would like to see it continue. Can’t belive Two Broke Girls has not been canceled it is terrible.
Wow I completely disagree! It makes me wonder if you have ever given the show a real opportunity because its hilarious. It’s one of my all time favorite shows and I hope it airs for a very long time!
How does this junk stay on the air. It is utterly humorless.
It should have ended after season 1. Did not have the same charm as my name is earl.
