The axe keeps flying over at TNT. The cable channel already cancelled Dallas and Franklin & Bash and now, they’ve cancelled Perception as well. There won’t be a fourth season.
Perception follows Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), a talented and schizophrenic neuropsychiatrist, as he assists his former student, FBI Special Agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook), solve complex cases. Other castmembers include Kelly Rowan, Arjay Smith, LeVar Burton, and Scott Wolf.
The show is currently in its third season. Ten of the season’s 15 episodes have aired so far and have averaged 2.78 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That’s down about 10% when compared to season two.
While Perception certainly isn’t TNT’s biggest series, it’s been a respectable performer. It seems that the cancellation is at least in part due to the cable channel’s desire to move towards airing edgier series.
It’s worth noting that Legends, a show sited as being more “edgy”, drew only 1.53 million viewers and has yet to be cancelled or renewed.
The final five episodes of Perception will being airing on February 17, 2015. It’s unclear if they will give viewers any kind closure to the series.
ABC Studios produces Perception so there’s a chance that they might try to find another home for the series. There will be 39 episodes at the end of season three — a far cry from the typical 88 episode minimum needed for a syndication package.
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled, or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
I loved the show, please bring it back!!
Keep it going. All actors are great.
Where can we vote for a continuation of this series? It goes beyond the scope of your usual who done-its, and displays a little intellectual prowess, as well as being charming. I vote for Season 4 please.
I seriously enjoyed Perception. It made you think. It expanded your mind. Everybody wants to compare who done its to Sherlock Holmes. That was 100 years ago. Get over it! Good TV is good TV. I am so tired of these cheesy reality shows. They are degrading and stupid. Every time a good show gets cancelled I wonder what big company offered them another dumb reality show. Our society has been numbed by the onslaught of reality TV. I am on Netflix and Amazon more and more due to this. And they wonder why millions of people are going there?… Read more »

I love the show. Just found it last week and i have watched all 3 seaons in a week. I really would love to see more of this program and would watch it on any channel that they would put it on. Please bring it back. Its great , I loved everything about Perception.
They’ve already recorded some sections PERCEPTION SEASON 4. So why not send those last episodes on Netflix.
How do you know that they started recording ?
Absolutely!
This actually hurts.
I loved the show, it was very cerebral and we’ll done!
I only discovered Perception at the end of their third season. Since then have watched all three seasons on Crave TV. Each season has delivered interesting, suspenseful stories. I love this show. It is clever and witty and very well written. Not too graphic. Thoroughly enjoy Daniel Pierce’s never predictable take on life. Quite amusing to watch his hallucinations give him clues to solve each mystery. I also think the show demystifies many different mental disorders/ conditions besides Daniel’s schizophrenia. I find it fascinating how the writers weave together each episode. Special shout out to Eric McCormack, Rachael Leigh Cook,… Read more »
I really enjoyed thevTV show “Perception”. I was one of my favorite shows!!!
Very sad this show ended – not sure why it did….Bring it back!!
Best show on any kind of TV. I love the Mentalist and In Therapy but Perception is the best of these three. While In Therapy has the best actor, Perception leaves me with the feeling that I learned something that I can apply to my life. The female lead in Perception does not resort to cheap clothes and the obligatory cleavage exposure as the viewer must endure in the Mentalist. Believe it or not this wardrobe malfunction, along with the fact that the main actress can’t walk in her wedgies,, is a major distraction to the plot line in The… Read more »
Really aggravating to hear. It’s becoming typical for the shows that I like to be canceled…and replaced with shows I couldn’t care less about. Evidently, I’m not part of the demographic that networks care about.
I only found this show recently and I love it. Cannot believe it has been cancelled.
