And it’s one, two, three strikes you’re out at the old ball game. As expected, the Pitch TV show has been cancelled by FOX. There will be no season two for the female-led MLB drama.
The Pitch TV series stars Kylie Bunbury as the inspirational, young pitcher, Ginny Baker — the first woman to play Major League Baseball. The FOX cast includes Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Ali Larter, Mark Consuelos, Dan Lauria, Mo McRae, Meagan Holder, and Tim Jo.
Pitch Season One: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Pitch averaged a 0.83 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and an average total audience of 3.032 million viewers. Compared to the other FOX TV shows we’re tracking, the Pitch cancellation comes as no surprise.
Deadline reports that although the writers were released two weeks ago, the producers were notified of the Pitch TV series cancellation, on Monday.
EP Kevin Falls and star Dan Lauria have since posted to social media about the Pitch TV show cancellation. Check it out.

What do you think? Were you a fan of the Pitch TV show? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for season two on FOX? Sound off, in the comments.
I really liked this show and disappointed that it was canceled. Some shows don’t pick up until the 2nd season but I guess they can’t afford that.
This was a great show and I am so sad to see it won’t be back on…my father and I would talk the next day about each episode .it was such a great family show…showing a girl at the center that was such a positive inspiring character …I’m very disappointed…
Boo Boo Boo Boo!!! Of course they wouldn’t bring back a positive show for young athletes (Girls) to be proud of! If it’s not about the Boys they don’t want any part of it,Shameful!
(based on ep reviews that I read) it appears the show started off pretty well when they focused on the players/locker room then went of the rails ratings wise when the story switched to the peyton place high school drama of it all. they did not solidify their base audience with the main story before heading off into stories about fourth and fifth tier characters no one cared about. the first season should have strictly been about her and the team adjusting, with the initial stages of a relationship. the next season, you turn up the heat on the relationship,… Read more »
You hit the nail on the head. It lost me in just a few episodes
Nice educated response among other simply playing the race/gender card. This show could have done well had they went about the story better.
Sorry it’s not coming back……………………………
I’ve been waiting to hear when the 2nd season will start and now I just saw that Pitch is cancelled. This completely saddens me that this show will not be back. Any chance that another channel will pick it up (Like CMT and Nashville)??
FOX made the right decision. Maybe someone else will pick it up, but don’t hold your breath. The ratings were awful. Best news so far today.
Huge, huge, huge and short sighted mistake. I didn’t watch Fox tv for years after the incredibly short run they gave Firefly. I’m DONE with Fox entertainment. No more. They would rather feed the American public garbage like the Mick, Star, Last man on Earth…. I’m DONE.
No one was watching the show. What do you expect them to do? It’s not like it ever had good ratings or a following. No one watched it. Can’t be them for pulling the handle on TV shows that are not making them money. If only NBC would do the same as Fox.
This is simply a mistake. This show was absorbing had some beautiful acting, and supporting characters that were just as interesting to follow as the principals. The writing was strong. Fox broke ground with a great, innovative idea and then chickened out. A series needs time to find its audience because there is such a blizzard of foolishness on tv. Fox should give this show a second chance.
They had no viewers. Do you expect them to keep using up a time slot that no one is watching and no one wants to advertise in?
I agree!!!!! shows like fargo will get renewed…..ugh
I’m disheartened and extremely disappointed! Pitch was a refreshing great show with an exceptional cast and writing. It’s a sad day when people would rather watch demonic shows verses fun filled family shows. Shame on you Fox!
very disappointing, really enjoyed this series. I am not in the 18 – 45 demographic which apparently is the one that seems to matter most.
The broadcast networks don’t get it. Viewers will discover it on streaming and on demand over the summer. With all the content out there, shows need two seasons to discover a show — particularly on broadcast.
FOX is part of HULU, and I’m sure HULU looked at it and said NO! Maybe they will change their mind, but don’t hold your breath.
Great show. Wonderful cast with an aspirational focus on female athletes. Loved it and I am sorry to see it cancelled.
It just goes to show that unless a show makes money it will get canned
Shame on you Fox!
Pitch was something completely different to the norm and our household enjoyed it immensely
I hope another channel picks up the story and runs with it.
Fox it seems won’t even the series come to natural end, So it’s like reading a book with the last chapter missing you never now how it ended
There are plenty of shows that will make money with BETTER RATINGS than pitch that will get cancelled. That is life,
Shame on them for worrying about money? No one will pick this up because it had about the same ratings as Emerald City on NBC. Meaning no one watched it. You have to have a sizeable fan base for continuation somewhere.
what a shame. one show that the whole family could enjoy together…..no bullets, no blood, no overt sexual content etc. I guess under 18 and over 45 don’t count, but viewership will certainly drop for the other shows, because why invest in a show when it is aimed at only one demographic. Pitch will be more than missed by one family.
