What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FOX television network, Pitch follows Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury), the first female Major League Baseball pitcher. When this gifted rookie is called up by the San Diego Padres, Ginny must prove herself to her teammates. She and captain/All-Star catcher Mike Lawson (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) are loath to admit their chemistry. While some of the Padres don’t even want Ginny on the field, her old minor league friend, center fielder Blip Sanders (Mo McRae), has her back. As Ginny’s agent and confidante, Amelia Slater (Ali Larter) recognized Ginny’s potential early on and dedicates herself to the rising star’s career. Despite her demanding dad Bill Baker’s (Michael Beach) preparation, Ginny finds it grueling to represent her entire gender under the spotlight’s glare. The Pitch cast also includes Mark Consuelos, Dan Lauria, Meagan Holder, and Tim Jo.
Season One Ratings (Finals)
While Pitch premiered on September 22, 2016 with a 1.06 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and an audience of 4.227 million viewers, it has been downhill, since then. The first season of Pitch averaged a 0.83 rating in the 18-49 demographic and drew an average audience of 3.03 million viewers. Find out how Pitch stacks up against the other FOX TV shows.

Telly’s Take
In the 2015-26 television season, FOX cancelled several shows that with ratings similar to Pitch, season one. Sleepy Hollow is the only series with a comparable demo rating (0.83) that FOX renewed. That said, that renewal was for a fourth season, which would result in a respectably sized syndication package. Ratings generally decline over the life of a show. That the first season of Pitch is performing so weakly does not bode well for the baseball drama. It seems likely that FOX will cancel Pitch by May.

I love Pitch. I will be greatly upset if they do not renew this show. This was my fave show of the whole season and honestly the only time I watched Fox. So if Pitch gets cancelled than you can guarantee I will not be watching Fox anymore at all. I tried Sleepy Hollow and was not impressed. I think Pitch at least deserves a second season and a second chance. I am left hanging because of how the season finale ended. I want to know where the cast ends up. Pitch was my favorite show of the season. It would be a bad move to cancel this show. Seinfeld had terrible ratings too in the first year and so have many other shows. They need to find a time slot that works.
“Pitch” is one of the better shows on TV and it would be a shame to cancel this wonderful show before it really has a chance to find its true audience. You have to give it an honest and good opportunity for it to become a hit show. It will be worth it. RENEW PITCH!
I think they should not cancel the show because me and my dad watch it and it would really upsetting to see not TV anymore.
I wish FOX would see this thread! Not one nay. They don’t know how many people they would disappoint including myself if they cancel the show.

It’s a great show, I don’t see why the should cancel it. As a baseball fanatic l think they should still keep going. Especially with a new way of having a female coming into the leagues, I hope they renew it and keep having new seasons of pitch!!

I can’t understand why it was so poorly rated other than the fact that it was against stiff competition on thursday nights. Maybe move it to tuesday to go with Fogelman’s other (hit) series This is Us? PLEASE don’t cancel such a good and unique show!!
I would love to see “Pitch” renewed! It’s hard to find shows that my son, husband and I all enjoy watching together, and that was one!
