Tonight marks the season finale of the Proof TV show on TNT. Will this series that’s focused on death manage to stay alive and see a second season? Should this drama be cancelled instead?
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) recently lost her son, saw her marriage end, and become estranged to her teenage daughter. Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
The series debuted on June 16th with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. It was a pretty mediocre start for a TNT series. The ratings dwindled downward over the course of the season though they saw a nice bump upward last week.
The season is currently averaging a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.12 million viewers. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and is in the middle of the pack in viewership.
With ratings like these, the cable channel could go either way. It could easily be canceled or renewed. If the finale does particularly well, those ratings coupled with last week’s numbers might be enough to tip the scale towards a renewal. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

I have been watching proof the whole season with my wife we love the show and look forward to it every week………Please bring it back for another season and also advertise it more ,that would probably bring the ratings up.
i really want an answer. Please renew Proof for a second season. There MUST be scientific study out there to share on this show, and with the viewing audience. On a side note…if it is renewed, please direct lead neurosurgeon (Cat’s boss) so that he tones down his acting. It’s a bit over the top. Thanks!
A fine balanced tv show, sensitive yet not unreal nor “corny”. Probably in the beginning people feared for the last but so far it’s proven not to be the case. Please give viewers the opportunity to watch a second season of a serie that taps on the unknown from the sound perspective of an ever increasingly power of our agnostic science.
We love Proof. This shows needs to come back. There are too many loose ends to cancel the show now. Our whole family loves it. Please renew!!!
i really enjoyed watching this show every week…,i am hoping you bring it back for a new season…i think everyone wonders what happens when we die…i know i do…

I would hate to see it not renewed. We record it so my husband and I can watch it together. In fact I found this page searching to see when season 2 starts. TNT you really need to bring Proof back!!
Enjoyed Proof very much – definitely should be renewed for at least one more season! There is lots more to explore! It was a pleasure to watch the character changes in Jennifer Beals unfold throughout the season, she is a terrific actress. Bring it back, TNT!

One of the best series on the air. You couldn’t ask for a finer cast. Jennifer Beals has proven to be a fine actress and deserves another season along with the supporting cast and well written scripts. Shows such as Boston’s Finest and Franklin & Bash are still on the air but by comparison are overly rated compared to this fine series. Give this series another season.

This show definitely needs to continue! I’ve enjoyed every episode and Jennifer Beal has been perfect in her role. Let’s continue to find out the Proof TNT! I can’t wait to see next season start. I haven’t been this excited about a tv drama in a long time.
