What would be the smart move? The season one finale of Pure Genius just aired on January 26th, and we want to know if you think CBS should cancel or renew the TV show for a second season.
A medical drama, Pure Genius follows a team of doctors as they team up with cutting-edge tech experts and try to push the boundaries of modern medicine to save lives. Doctor Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) is a disgraced but brilliant surgeon who is recruited by a young Silicon Valley tech billionaire, James Bell (Augustus Prew). Wallace learns that Bell is harboring a secret and he begins to question just what the young founder is really trying to achieve. The cast also includes Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton, and Brenda Song.
Pure Genius debuted on October 27th with middling ratings for CBS. The pilot earned a 1.05 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.23 million viewers. From there, the numbers only declined. With only 13 episodes under its belt, season one of the series received an average rating of 0.86 in the 18-49 demo and a total of only 5.34 million viewers. The show’s ratings currently rank third to last out of CBS’ 22 scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Given the low ratings and CBS’ decision not to order more episodes, it seems likely Pure Genius will be cancelled.
But, we want to know what you think. Should CBS cancel the medical drama or, renew it for a second season? Tell us what you think.
I love the show. As season finale was a cliffhanger it would be very nice to see the resolution and also the growth in James’ character.
Pure genius is an amazing show. Please keep it!
Renew Pure Genius. Plots are interesting and unique, subplots are incomplete now, interesting characters need more time for development. This show gives hope where none should exist, resembles what we imagine to be NIH and CDC knotty problem solving, has a variety of race, ethnic, religious and other byplay factors I like to see–beyond the confusion of other hospital and doctor shows hard to follow, beyond the shadowy interplay of atmosphere actors, and beyond the traditional hospital/medical scenarios shown elsewhere.
My husband and I really enjoyed Pure Genius. We tuned in each time it aired. We’re hoping the show is renewed. CBS has not given the show a fair chance to be another great medical show such as Grey’s and ER. The show can’t end the way episode 13 left the viewer wanting to know what happens next in each storyline. So much unfinished details. RENEW, RENEW, RENEW!!!!!!!
Renew the show. The tech shown is amazing even if not all real. Shows the possibilities.
Please renew Pure Genuis! It’s such a great show!
Please renew it’s a great TV drama series. It’s a new look on what medicine has to offer.
Pure Genius truly sums it up in my opinion. Strong actor, thrilling plots, but the interactions of the characters are what I enjoy the most. These are warm, interesting characters and I look forward to seeing them each week. One of my favorite new shows. I say “Please renew it!!!”
RENEW, PLEASE! Such a refreshing change from the usual medical shows. Innovative thinking, low key drama among staff, really cool technology. It is truly enjoyable viewing.
Love the show!! Please renew.
Renew please! This finally not a cookie cutter genre show. It has the potential to be like Star Trek in the way that it’s ideas were made real in many ways.
I enjoy this show…I will be sorry to see it go.. If it can be renewed it would be nice…
Please renew the is awesome and cool don’t cancel.
Please renew. Great show. Always makes me feel good knowing there is a possibility of real medicine in the works for curing sick people. Cast is great and hoping when it comes back that James finds someone.
Just because your audience doesn’t fall in the 18-45 year old catagory is no reason to cancel this fabulous show. It’s amazing, its uplifting. You finally have a great show and now you want to cancel it. Shame in you
