It looks like CBS has quietly cancelled the Pure Genius TV show. Deadline reports the network has decided not to order any episodes beyond the initial 13. That said, expect all produced episodes to air.
A medical drama from Jason Katims, Pure Genius stars Dermot Mulroney, Augustus Prew, Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton, and Brenda Song. Production will reportedly wrap on December 15th, with episode 13.
Pure Genius: A Look at the Ratings
Pure Genius premiered on October 27th. The pilot garnered a 1.05 in the 18-49 year old viewer ratings demographic and drew a total audience of 6.229 million viewers. It has been mostly downhill since then.
To date, CBS has aired four episodes of Pure Genius. The show’s season average in the demo is a paltry 0.94, and its total average audience is 5.617 million viewers. In other words, the cancellation is not a huge surprise.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Pure Genius TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Sound off, in the comments.
Oh no! We love this show. And I mean love. I think it has an amazing storyline. Such an interesting twist on the usual medical dramas.
I will be so upset if this show doesn’t continue.
I love this show! It’s the best medical I have seen. I love the possibilities it brings out for a future in the medical industry. It’s not just like the normal hospital and staff issues. It shows not to stagnate but to crush your brain cells to think beyond what you know and create an answer. Everything is possible.
Amazing heartfelt show.. fantastic ccastTheir eenergyallows us to fall into and believe in their trust of what they do in medicine..Class act with no nudity. .bad language. but has an amazing air os spiritual awareness! !
I love this show. It is original and fascinating. The actors do a great job. Why would a show like this be cancelled when there are so many silly shows kept on the air. I am very disappointed
I love this show and want to see more of it. Why would n the world would CBS cancel this show? What I really want to know is how realistic is this show. There is a lot of miraculous things on the show and I wonder how much of that technology is realistic.
I love this show. Both my wife and I have greatly enjoyed the future look at what technology could be helping us accomplish when I comes to our healthcare.
Absolutely Amazing show – you can’t possibly cancel it! Please say it’s not true.
This is a fabulous show. With so many nonsensical shows on television why does this great show have to go?
Keep it!! Way better than the options. Reality TV is the worst!
I and my husband both like this show! Each episode gives you a little more info behind the characters and shows you their softer sides! I absolutely HATE reality shows and that’s all that seems to be on regular tv any more! We don’t have cable or anything and all we get is what we can with an antenna! At this rate we will just end up getting rid of our tv if cbs keeps getting rid of all the drama/non reality shows!
We saw the first few episodes and I found the characters didn’t gel and the story lines felt patched together – a little from column A and a little from column B. I guess we will delete the few left in the PVR. No need to follow a show that is ending.
Good actors but no chemistry. Stories involved too many medical procedures but not going below the surface of each character’s back story.
Good morning of technology and medicine and raw emotion. Bad decision to cancel it.
Love the show… a quirky mix of tgechmoligy, raw emotions and medicine. Poor decision to cancel the show!
Why is it that crappy reality shows hang around but good drama gets cancelled? My husband and I really enjoy this show, and he usually hates medical shows. Ditch Survivor keep this one.
Probably because reality shows cost about $100 plus beer money to rile up the peasants for juicy viewing, but a well made show costs hundreds of thousands 🙁
That’s the issue, Reader. And in fact, scripted shows cost in the millions, per episode.
