TV show description:
This dramedy is the coming-of-age story of a group of rule-bending friends and the adults who mentor them through the ups and downs of adolescence in Ocean Park Hospital in Los Angeles.
The narrator of the show is Charlie (Griffin Gluck), a 12-year-old who’s in a coma. He introduces the audience to this band of unlikely friends.
Jordi Palacios (Nolan Sotillo) is the “new kid,” a 16-year-old who comes to California by himself to try to get treated by the renowned hospital’s top surgeon.
Charming and independent, Leo Roth (Charlie Rowe) is the 16-year-old leader of the group. His best friend is Dash Hosney (Astro), a 16-year-old rebel with a big personality. He’s determined not to let his cystic fibrosis stop him from living his life.
A know-it-all, 15-year-old Emma Chota (Ciara Bravo) is Leo’s on-again-off-again girlfriend. She’s coping with an eating disorder. Meanwhile, Kara Souders (Zoe Levin) is a “mean girl” cheerleader who shares a room with comatose Charlie. Although her heart is failing, she is realizing for the first time that she actually has one and begins opening it up to her new friends.
The pediatric ward at Ocean Park is run by Nurse Jackson (Octavia Spencer). She’s a caregiver who has a take-no-prisoners approach to helping these teens get the most from their lives. She ends up putting her own life in second place. Her stern manner hides her incredible heart that secretly makes their lives more ordinary.
Nurse Jackson has little use for naïve and gullible Nurse Brittany Dobler (Rebecca Rittenhouse), who allows the teens to get away with things they probably shouldn’t.
Overseeing much of the kids’ treatment is Doctor Adam McAndrew (David Annable), the country’s top pediatric surgeon.
Episode #13 — Waiting for Superman
The group copes with the loss of one of their own, which results in new hope for one of them. Love is in the air as Nurse Jackson and Dr. Naday take things to a new level, however Dash’s love interest could cost him his life. Shocking news leads to new hope and Emma and Kara start facing their family issues.
First aired: February 7, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Red Band Society TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
do not cancel this show, everyone is right it’s a good family show. We get enough crime on the news, who needs csi, detectives, more crime. FOX is blowing it on this call to cancel, what else have they got that’s any good.
Please RENEW this show!
I LOVE it!
I caught up with Red Band Society on On Demand and watched most all of the shows in a short time————loved it. However, this week I tried to watch the rest so I could put it on my reg. schedule, but the 5 or 6 min. of show and many, many longer commercials made it impossible to enjoy. I read that some shows have insisted that we (on On Demand) cannot be allowed to fast forward and I think that’s terrible. Advertising has taken over too many of our conveniences. If On Demand wants to introduce shows to people, they… Read more »
Please, don’t cancel this show! As a teen I WAS one of those kids. I spent so much time in hospitals, and the staff and other patients were the only ones who understood what I was going through. I’m alive today because they gave me the inner strength to fight my illness. Please, please don’t cancel
Best show we’ve seen on TV in a long time. Such an eye opener to what sick kids all over could be going through. Please don’t cancel!!!
Don’t cancel this show. It’s so much better than those crappy reality shows. Reconsider come on.
Please do not cancel this show! I love it! We were so surprised to see tonight was the series finale…I couldn’t believe it. We thought it was returning and I am so sad you have decided to cancel. Please reconsider. I love the cast and the stories.
Seriously …..what a great , honest show about kids with cancer and growing pains…..why can’t we keep this show, as apposed to cheesy reality bits or shows like law and order, that are down, right depressing and bad.
The actors on this show have been brilliant , and I hope to see them more……
Please Please don’t cancel this show
Love this show! I hope it gets picked up!!!!
Please rethink this cancellation. This shows children coming together and helping and sticking together in tuff times…I THINK ITS IMPORTANT for teenagers to see how to work as a team. It is a shame that the networks pull shows before they have a chance.
Why cancell a family show? It showed values ,compassion, real life drama. It was a great family show,it seems if thete is no blood,or sex,or about violence which is fine but this show was one that had a bit of everything in it you cancell a show a family can discuss and had a heart tell me why you persist on putting murder, blood, sex on but you wont leave a family show on,? There are not any family shows on tv its sad and sick on the part of ch. 6
Don’t cancel this show. It covers a issue that needs to be told. The real children that face this every single day of their life. It spreads hope in a hopeless situation. So please find a way to keep this show. Thanks for making what you did if you can’t.
Red Band Society is one of the best shows on TV. My husband and I love it (and we fall into the senior demographic!). The story lines are emotional and seem to portray real-life teen situations. Kids need to see shows like this and not the “reality show” cr*p that seems to be the way most TV networks are heading. Don’t cancel it this season—give it a chance and order at least 13 more shows!!
Please do not cancel the show! My mother and I love it!! I want to see how everything plans out!
