Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Rise averaged a 0.85 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.44 million viewers. Find out how Rise stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Please don’t cancel this show. It’s great!! The season finale was especially amazing! I’m totally invested and really want to see the rest of the characters’ get resolved.
Loved the show all season! Finale was so emotional and heartwarming. Needs to be picked up by another station. NBC stop focusing on fake news and let us see shows we care about!!’
Is there anyway that NBC can reconsider? I thought that was the best show on TV! I think it’s way better than “This is Us”. Please let me know if there’s anything that can be done to renew this show! They have shows on like “team titans go quote and they cancel the show like “Rise”?????? The acting was amazing and the storyline was awesome !!!!!
Love, love, love this show… I cannot believe it is cancelled. I love to see more… Hope NBC reconsider!
No! Please bring back Rise; I looked forward to Tuesday nights because of this wonderful show about kids.
Awesome show touching on a variety of topics bringing reality to TV. Please someone pick up this show! To me it beats so many other “hospital” based dramas that you can’t tell one from the other, or serial murder shows that really shouldn’t be on!
Agree with an earlier post. Rise is a quality program! There are so few. Rise has soul and heart and bridges generations and family. Isn’t this what we need a bit more of? Please reconsider.
“Rise” is a wonderful series that’s oozing with talent. I love that it’s about the arts. Sad that these kinds of shows are cancelled like this. Remember “Smash”? It was a great show as well, about a musical, and was cancelled after one season. I’d love to see another network pick up “Rise”.
I am so sad that Rise has been cancelled. I really enjoyed this show. The story line was riveting and unpredictable and the acting was excellent and believable. The season finale was excellent!!
This show is amazing. The cast is phenomenal, there has to be season 2. Please don’t cancel it!!!
This show deserves a second season! The story line is incredible and relatable!!
Great show dealing with real issues our kids are experiencing now. It would be a shame not to bring this heartfelt show back.
This was the best thing to watch on Tuesday night:( we r sad…NBC PLEASE reconsider?!
What a great, heart warming show!! Cancel one of the ridiculous reality shows and please keep this one.
So enjoyed the acting, storyline, and singing. So much talent! Need season two please!!
Enjoyed the talent in this show. Do not cancel!!
