Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Rise averaged a 0.85 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.44 million viewers. Find out how Rise stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Bring back Rise. One of the Best shows since This Is Us. Love, love, love Rise. I just cannot believe it’s been canceled. WHY, WHY WHY???
Rise is an amazing show, & NBC renewed shows with much poorer ratings, maybe we should cancel NBC! Ridiculous!
Rise was one of the best dramas on tv. Smart meaningful dialogue. Great acting and music. Every intelligent show on tv gets canceled. What’s wrong with that picture? And I noticed the only demographic mentioned was 18-49. What about those of us who are older, wiser and probably more educated at 60-70. We also have more spending power. Shameful cancellation!
I love this show please dont cancel rise
Please bring this wonderful show back for a second season. Too many other genetic shows are on now. This show is a breath of fresh air. I am extremely disappointed.
You should reconsider bringing back rise. We watched every episode and would love to keep watching!
I really enjoyed Rise. It was similar to Glee in the storylines and topics but so much more heartwarming and real. I’m so upset. There are so many of the same shows on tv now. This was something different. And to end on a sad note without any real resolutions of relationships it’s not fair to the devoted fans that actually watched the show.
I hope they reconsider! Absolutely love this show. There’s nothing like it on TV! So sad! Don’t get rid of good television, NBC!
I love this show and am very disappointed that it’s been cancelled. Theater drama is lacking in any network lineup, and it deserved more episodes.
Love this show PLEASE don’t cancel!!!!!
One of the best shows on TV. Please don’t cancel. The acting was superb..the finale brought tears to my eyes.
Please someone pick up this show! Need more shows like this! Too many cop and reality shows… same formula different title. Show means something. If networks can’t then Netflix… Hulu?
This show was amazing. The season finale spectacular. I can’t believe it has been cancelled. So much talent.
Can’t believe it’s been cancelled. Please reconsider, NBC!
I cannot believe this show was cancelled. I looked forward to watching it every week and I haven’t looked forward to watching any shows lately. I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with ALL the characters!! Poor choice NBC.
