Lifetime has decided to cancel their original sitcom, Rita Rocks, after two seasons.
Rita Rocks revolves around an overworked wife and mother who tries to balance the many different aspects of her life, including being in a local rock band. The series stars Nicole Sullivan in the title role with Richard Ruccolo, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Natalie Dreyfuss, Kelly Gould, and Raviv Ullman rounding out the cast.
The show was initially ordered as a companion for reruns of Reba with an eye towards amassing enough episodes to run it five nights a week.
The series debuted in October of 2008 with a 20 episode season. In March 2009, Rita Rocks was renewed for a second season of 20 more installments.

JoAnn Alfano, executive VP for entertainment at Lifetime, said, “Rita Rocks is the first original comedy that Lifetime has launched in 10 years, so you can imagine how delighted we are to welcome it back for a second season. It’s smart, it’s funny, and it appeals to anyone who has ever tried to carve out a little time for herself.”
The second season kicked off in October but apparently wasn’t successful enough for Lifetime. The cable channel has opted not to renew Rita Rocks for a third season. The December 7th episode will end up serving as both the season and series finale.
What do you think? Are you sad to see Rita Rocks go? How would you have liked to see the show end?

This is SO disappointing! I cannot believe it! It was my favorite by FAR. :/
Every great show is getting canceled.
BRING RITA ROCKS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I encourage you to join my facebook page, “Keep Rita Rocking!” to find out ways to contact Lifetime to bring the show back!
it was nice to see a show that show family values, a show that made me smile
I guess a show that will be about killing or sex will replace rita rocks;
lifetime, some of us still like to laugh.
why wouldn’t I want to laugh rather than see someone getting killed, or doing someone
eles woman; keep values and smiles on t.v. dont get rid of the show, get rid of the writers and bring in new writers with new ideas, RITA ROCKS!
How many tv shows sucks and have even more than 5 seasons and this one is one of the funniest and has only two! i’m so disappointed…BRING IT BACK!!! PLEASE!!! I would love to watch season 3…I believe that season 3 would be amazing!! ,Rita’ has more than 36 milion viewers …WHY DID STUPID LIFETIME CANCEL THE SHOW????

Im really sad is done, I love this show I can not belive is gone . I hope the decide to make more seasons is a very very good show.
please bring it on. there arent many clean shows on anymore about families. this was a great show and i will miss it.
I started a Facebook group called “Keep Rita Rocking!”, show your support and join! I’ve written to Lifetime on their site and I found that you can send them a postcard (they don’t read letters) to their headquarters in New York. erich- I went to all of the tapings for the show and feel very close to it. The first thing I thought of when I read that it was canceled was how unfortunate to all the nice people and actors who work on the show. I feel like this is one of the only true family sitcoms out there… Read more »
I can’t believe how stupid Lifetime is!!! The mistake that they made was where they put Rita. The first season was during a time that other shows were in reruns, and that is how I got into it. It has a great cast with great chemistry, was good with music, and funniest thing on TV since The Big Bang Theory!!! If Lifetime does not bring this back, then I am through with this network. I no longer watch movies there, nor do I watch Army Wives, any longer, because it went off into left field away from what it was… Read more »
It was one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a long time! I just got hooked on it and now it’s gone. I don’t think it was given a chance!
i am disappointed too! i worked on the show and can say the cast and the crew was the best in Hollywood. This is the kind of show that deserves to be on for at least 10 years. Write lifetime and tell them to bring it back!
I’m sad and disappointed that Lifetime canceled the show. It was filled with such warmth and had a great cast. Let’s show Lifetime that we care about the show and want it to continue! Lifetime is not a major network and I believe it will be easier convincing them to renew the show then it would if it was on, for example, ABC or Fox. A simple way to tell Lifetime that you don’t want them to cancel Rita is to go to their official site, mylifetime.com At the bottom (where it’s black) of the main page there will be… Read more »
