Lifetime has decided to cancel their original sitcom, Rita Rocks, after two seasons.
Rita Rocks revolves around an overworked wife and mother who tries to balance the many different aspects of her life, including being in a local rock band. The series stars Nicole Sullivan in the title role with Richard Ruccolo, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Natalie Dreyfuss, Kelly Gould, and Raviv Ullman rounding out the cast.
The show was initially ordered as a companion for reruns of Reba with an eye towards amassing enough episodes to run it five nights a week.
The series debuted in October of 2008 with a 20 episode season. In March 2009, Rita Rocks was renewed for a second season of 20 more installments.

JoAnn Alfano, executive VP for entertainment at Lifetime, said, “Rita Rocks is the first original comedy that Lifetime has launched in 10 years, so you can imagine how delighted we are to welcome it back for a second season. It’s smart, it’s funny, and it appeals to anyone who has ever tried to carve out a little time for herself.”
The second season kicked off in October but apparently wasn’t successful enough for Lifetime. The cable channel has opted not to renew Rita Rocks for a third season. The December 7th episode will end up serving as both the season and series finale.

This is bull, I really like this tv series; I have been waiting for it to come back on. I watched it all the time. I found it to be interesting and entertaining. This show really showed how difficukt it can be for a mother to do the things she enjoys, while taking care of her family and working. I think this show deserves a 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th season and so on. I think that Lifetime really needs to reconsider their decision.

I can’t belive Rita was cancelled!!!! Why can t.v. people not leave on a show that the whole family can watch! I guess it has to be all violence and no meaning to be a good thing for the ratings. What a shame!!
i cant believe they cancelled Rita rocks! I’ve been waiting all year to see this show and just now found out there is no third season. Sometimes i wonder about whos running these tv networks. Are u crazy?
Obviously its not interesting to watch something that relates to real life unless involves violence. Maybe if Rita were to shoot her husband or something in that area they would put it back on. I agree that this is insane. I want it back on; just like you I have been patiently waiting and just now discovered that it is not coming back on. I ask myself the same question…. ” who is running these tv networks”.
I am so upset that this show was cancelled. My husband and I had it recorded so we can watch it together. I was so funny!!!!!!!!!! Truly sad, was looking forward to watching it
This show should DEFINITELY be un-canceled! It was clever, the characters were hilarious, and it was relate-able. From the “office wife” episode, to the clichéd separated friends and the reflected economy circumstances, this show was GREAT. I am very disappointed it won’t be coming back.

I absolutely LOVED coming home after work and watching Rita Rocks. It was funny, touched on real issues, and was very down to earth. Not like other shows where the characters were extravagantly wealthy and looked like they didn’t have a care in the world. Rita and her family reminded me of my family. To cancel before the baby is born is CRAZY!!! That’s what I looked forward to the most. I really think and hope the show comes back. It’s a GREAT SHOW.
Finally get a great family show and it goes away after 2 seasons. Reba, What I like About You, and Rita /Rocks are great family shows . it is a shame

I think another network should pick up Rita & Sherri. They are great shows that showed what is happening in most households in the country.
Yes I loved Rita Rocks and Sherri also how can we get these shows back Please help get these shows back They were very funny and My entire family and I looked at these shows every week did’nt miss a show We love looking at the reruns
I can’t believe Lifetime was stupid enough to cancel this show. It was funnier than anything else on tv without being mean. Rita and her husband had a great relationship. You just don’t see that on tv these days Or maybe ever. The only problem was Lifetime. They didn’t promote it enough. Most people I talked to about it never heard of it. Thumbs way down Lifetime!!!!

I discovered Rita Rocks in the middle of the second season. It’s a great show. Funnier than most comedies on TV. I just went online to find when season three was to start and discovered it’s been canceled. Great actors and great screenwriters. I was really looking forward to it. I honestly think the show wasn’t promoted enough.
