NEW YORK, NY – July 13, 2016 – Today, SHOWTIME wrapped production on the first season of the freshman music series ROADIES with an impressive roster of musical acts set to appear in the season finale, which will air on Sunday, August 28th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The one-hour episode will feature music personally curated by series creator, executive producer, writer and music supervisor Cameron Crowe, and performances from Jim James, Eddie Vedder, Nicole Atkins, Jackson Browne, Robyn Hitchcock, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig from Lucius, and Gary Clark Jr. The ROADIES soundtrack will be released by Republic Records and Stardog Records. Previously announced tracks include “I Wish I Was Sober” by Frightened Rabbit featuring Mike McCready, “Are You Satisfied?” by Reignwolf, and “Big Love” by Lindsey Buckingham.
The hyper-eclectic music featured on ROADIES includes works from artists as wide-ranging as Bob Dylan, The Ramones, The Replacements, The Ting Tings, Jeff Buckley and more. Many of music’s best are appearing in the series, including Lindsey Buckingham, The Head & the Heart, Lucius, Halsey, Jim James and Reignwolf, who also contributes some of the score for this season’s second episode. Joy Williams (The Civil Wars) guest stars. Crowe, with help from ROADIES producer and Stardog Records label president Kelly Curtis, hand-picked the genre-bending, decade-spanning mix of new and classic rock, indie, folk, bluegrass, electronic, and blues and more. Featured music includes an extremely rare, never-before released cover of Bob Dylan’s “Farewell Angelina” by Jeff Buckley and Gary Lucas, “Dreams of Flying” off of Tom Petty’s band Mudcrutch’s recent record, Buckingham’s “Bleed to Love Her” and “Big Love,” Hannah Huston from The Voice on “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” “Loudmouth” from the Ramones and “Given to Fly” by Pearl Jam. The songs will at times reflect some of the Staton-House band tour stops – in the episode in which the band performs in Atlanta, the music includes “Kick Your Game” by the Atlanta trio T.L.C. and the live version of “Oh Atlanta” by classic band Little Feat.
Curtis, who has managed Pearl Jam since the band’s inception in 1990, worked on several of Crowe’s films: as a researcher on Say Anything, an associate producer on Singles, and a tech advisor on Almost Famous.
ROADIES gives an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of roadies who live for music and the de facto family they’ve formed along the way. The series chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes and pays homage to the backstage workers who put the show on the road while touring the United States for the successful arena-level group, The Staton-House Band. Luke Wilson (Old School, Enlightened) and Screen Actors Guild(R) Award nominee Carla Gugino (San Andreas), Imogen Poots (The Look of Love), Rafe Spall (One Day), Academy Award(R) nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider), Peter Cambor (NCIS: Los Angeles), Colson Baker a.k.a. Machine Gun Kelly (Beyond the Lights) and Ron White (Blue Collar Comedy Tour) star in the ensemble cast. Luis Guzman (Boogie Nights), Jacqueline Byers (The Strain), Finesse Mitchell (Saturday Night Live), Branscombe Richmond (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Tanc Sade (Matador, Gilmore Girls) guest star. Emmy(R) and Tony(R) nominee Winnie Holzman (My So-Called Life, Wicked) serves as writer and executive producer, along with Emmy winners J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Lost), Bryan Burk (Lost, Fringe, Person of Interest) and Len Goldstein (Hart of Dixie). Kathy Lingg (Person of Interest, Fringe) is co-executive producer. ROADIES is produced by Bad Robot Productions, Vinyl Films and Dooley & Company Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television.”
What do you think? Have you seen Roadies? Do you think it will be renewed?
Love this show. Hopefully it will be renewed.
Love the show. Hilight of the week
This show just did not cut it. I doubt it will get a 2nd season.
Adore this show & watch each episode multiple times, something I’ve never done for another TV show.
Absolutely love everything about this wonderful series. Acting is first rate, humor sometimes subtle (and sometimes NOT) but always on target, music stellar, and relationships poignant.. Some reviews have been tepid and renewal doubted but hard to imagine those folks watching same series as I’ve become wrapped up in. Fingers crossed big time for second season and can’t wait for Sunday’s season 1 finale. Don’t stay on that plane Reg !!
This show builds with each episode and grips you for all the right feel-good reasons.. Hadn’t been into a series so much since breaking bass first season.. Cam Crowe/Showtime, let this one build, you won’t be disappolnted.. SEASON 2!
Really hope it gets renewed. I ve enjoyed every show, the characters/cast, the songs and story line. I want to know what happens to everyone? the tour? Made it a priority to look up bands, which I had not heard before. Sorry I’m a movie not music buff. Showtime and Cameron Crowe, You got me listening to music ! totally into the music and all the performances. Love how they get worked into story line, not just an opening act but music lessons, sound checks, understage performances, bus rides. All the songs work into the story lines beautifully. I’m sick… Read more »
I really have enjoyed the show.As many have said the show is starting to get it’s legs.It takes time for writers to develop characters and if the show is renewed,it will become better. Having been in this business for 30 years,it is easy for me to pick apart a lot of technical details but it is a television show with really good music and OK tech. The show does need to be tightened up with more character development but it is a really good first season.
Sorry Showtime ! Lol sometime I just have to concentrate on one thing at a time ! Sorry Showtime ! Keep roadies
I like this show! I don’t watch too much TV but I do tune in to this one! I’m a music fanatic and this show tells a lot ! It’s got a great cast and music so HBO really needs to keep this one ! Even my husband who isn’t into music loves this show !
Just heard that Roadies might be cancelled after the first season. Hard to believe as I think this show keeps getting better with each episode. I started watching because I am a big Ray Donovan Fan. Roadies is fast becoming one of my all time favorite Showtime series. I hope lots of Roadies fans will let Showtime know how we feel, in an attempt to abort the cancellation
I also began watching this bc I’m a huge “Ray Donovan” fan of the set-your-alarm/don’t miss mode. “Roadies” won my heart; I didn’t realize I needed a break from the escalating violence on Donovan” “Roadies ” took the edge of.
I love this show! The music, actors/characters, it’s well written and interesting. I look forward to it every week. Can’t wait for the finale and Season 2!
Showtime has the best show on television and it’s called ROADIES! The sad thing is they don’t even know it! Seriously the best characters on tv right now. Incredible music. This show is a classic! Watch it and you will get addicted. Please promote the hell out of this show and bring it back for season 2! Please!!!!!! Don’t let this one get away!
My favorite show. Please don’t let it end.
I hope it is renewed- it’s very entertaining !
