AMC has decided to cancel Rubicon after one season of 13 episodes.
Billed as a conspiracy thriller, Rubicon is set in a government intelligence agency where nothing is as it seems. The cast includes James Badge Dale, Dallas Roberts, Jessica Collins, Christopher Evan Welch, Lauren Hodges, Arliss Howard, and Miranda Richardson.
The TV show was previewed back in June and attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.07 million viewers. When the series officially kicked off in August, the demo dropped to a 0.3 rating with 1.9 million viewers. The demo dropped to a 0.2 after that and the whole season averaged a 0.3 rating and 1.25 million viewers.
That wasn’t enough for AMC to want a second season and the cable channel has now cancelled the series.
Of the cancellation decision, AMC released the following statement, “Rubicon’ gave us an opportunity to tell a rich and compelling story, and we’re proud of the series. This was not an easy decision, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a phenomenally talented and dedicated team.”
The 13th and final episode of Rubicon aired on October 17th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that it’s been cancelled? What would you liked to have seen in season two?

I am also deeply disappointed with the cancellation. I thought the show was extremely
compelling, and I could not wait for the next episode to unfold. Is there any reasonable chance that they will reconsider?
I found Rubicon riveting from the first episode! It was great, compelling television with wonderful characters that had me looking forward to Sunday nights again. But the season finale was a big disappointment. How they could end such an exciting series so weakly, I don’t understand. The cancellation is bad news, but not really a surprise, I’m sorry to say.
This was the only show I watched on AMC. Very disappointing to hear about the cancellation…this means I will not be watching AMC anymore. I wish some other outlet picks it up.
Some times a good thing is kept just because its a good thing and it brings pleasure just to have it around. Money shouldn’t be the way to measure everything. Millions of people went to vote against the Big Hand, manipulating, us but AMC caved in. This is no doubt because you did not show terrorist as the sweet, loving people they are. You instead made them out to be some kiind of cold blooded killers. This was not safe, nor politically correct, you must always make the U.S.A., look like the blood thirsty monsters and the bomb throwers as… Read more »
I absolutely adored this show. I am very disappointed that it did not get the chance to go on for another season. It’s unfortunate that AMC could not take into consideration that you do not need a tremendous audience to prove how incredible a show really is. So what if not everyone took the time and energy to watch the show; oh well, their loss. It’s not fair to the people who truly enjoyed this amazing show.
It was one of the BEST shows on TV — aimed at thinking adults and not 12 year olds.
I am very sad to see it go.
Very disappointing. I believe the show would have built audience in the second season with word of mouth, just as other shows have done. “24” was a good example of that. Another case of myopic short-term thinking on AMC’s part.
My wife & I both enjoyed this show. We are in the 30-40 demographic, and this was the only show we watched on AMC. So now we won’t be watching AMC any longer.

PLE-E-ASE bring back Rubicon!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best series I have ever seen. Only show I want to even watch re-runs. So disappointed AMC!!!! Give me a break!!!!!!!
Well, Americans, you live and breathe capitalism; so that’s what you get. When EVERY thing is for the money, there’s no place for silly human things such as loyalty to your audience, intellect, art, culture etc.
I loved the show. I don’t understand why such a brilliant show could have so few viewers.
Unreal. Every quality tv show that I ever find gets cancelled…why is it that the majority of the time the crap floats and everything else inevitably sinks?
very disappointed. In a time where the reality TV shows make me turn off the TV and pick up a good book I will miss this unordinary show that was for grown-ups. Not all TV watchers like walking dead, vampires and other mindless drivel.
Agree!!!
very disappointed… i found Rubicon to be one of the most smart, compelling, intriguing, and relevant shows on television with great acting and writing… this is the show that 24 could have been, but never was
Tragic. Such an entertaining and thought provoking show. The character development and acting was top notch. Perhaps this show could continue on IFC?
