The AMC series has not been performing well in the ratings but, according to a listing in the Backstage industry casting paper, Rubicon has been renewed for year two. Here’s their info:
Rubicon (Drama, AMC) A think-tank analyst comes to the realization that his colleagues are not who he thought they were and may be a part of a covert organization secretly manipulating world politics and affairs. James Badge Dale stars. Casting: Avy Kaufman Casting, 180 Varick St., 16th Fl., New York, NY 10014. Premiered Aug. 1. Renewed.
Last Sunday’s episode attracted just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 997,000 total viewers. That pales when compared to AMC’s Mad Men which scored a 0.6 demo rating and 2.1 million viewers.
The Backstage listing seems like it’s most likely a typo or error because, for now, they seem to be the only one saying there will be another year.
The season finale of Rubicon, “You Can Never Win,” is set to air next Sunday on AMC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Rubicon return for another year or should it be cancelled?

This is my favorite show. I couldn’t wait to see it each week, and I seemed to be thinking about the plot and what could be happening next throughout the week. Shows just do not have that effect on me!!
This is a fantastic show, I hope beyond hope they will do another season. The performances are great (with a few small exceptions), the story is fresh, the music is wonderful. It’s so refreshing to watch an intellectual thriller for a change. You have to have a brain to watch this show which is wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about this show!
Love the show! The main plot is so involved I think people are intimidated to jump in the middle of the series. I hope to god this comes back. James Badge Dale is really good in it. If it doesn’t come back this guy will get another gig EASY!
AMC renew Rubicon it was the best new series of 2010 and the direction the plot is headed in will really up the viewership as the action increases…if every episode were like “Wayward Sons” the ratings would double overnight.
Rubicon is a stellar show, one of the best I’ve seen made to-date. Any individual who thinks and/or solves problems for a living will come to love this show with great respect. I would not be surprised if this show wins a few awards.
The show, Rubicon, needs to be renewed and continued. It is by far the most intriguing, thought-provoking show on TV.
The best show on TV since HBO’s Rome!!
This absolutely needs to be renewed hands down. The series really found out it’s groove and characters really got their chance to shine after a solid paced start.
This is the best show I have seen in years. Please bring it back!!
It was refreshing to stumble on Rubicon. It is an intelligent program based on intelligent character and plot development rather than simple minded violence and mindless babble. It challenges the viewers and in return rewards them. I hope it returns and keep the intellectual nature that “intelligence gathering” should have.
I thought about Kale all week long for the last 4 weeks. I am not a t.v. watcher so it was amazing to my family that I was religious about watching this show. If there is no more I will be really disappointed.
This is an excellent show! The best stories are those where you have no idea what is going on until you see it happening before your eyes. That is what is happening in Rubicon. It’s thought-provoking, intellectually stimulating. Please bring on 10 more seasons!
I don’t understand why so much was revealed so early. Usually this is suicide. The same situation as “Life” with Damien Lewis. Too much too early. I love the show but I don’t think we will see a second season.
I LOVE this show.
Bravo to AMC for taking the initiative to create such a spell-binding drama. This show is a ‘riddle wrapped in a mystery wrapped in an enigma’ to paraphrase Churchill when describing the former Soviet Union.
AMC: please continue to make a program that demands an intelligent and alert audience! I agree with someone who said it was impossible to multi-task while watching it!
Rubicon stands out as the best series I have seen on television in a long time. Those viewers who did not like what they saw are probably non-thinkers. You must admit that the cast has some flaws in their acting but the overall reaction is superb. I find that the synopsis makes one think and I can’t wait for the next episode. At last we get a show that sparks interest and one for intellectuals. Do we need a write-in campaign to renew if for next season.
