The AMC series has not been performing well in the ratings but, according to a listing in the Backstage industry casting paper, Rubicon has been renewed for year two. Here’s their info:
Rubicon (Drama, AMC) A think-tank analyst comes to the realization that his colleagues are not who he thought they were and may be a part of a covert organization secretly manipulating world politics and affairs. James Badge Dale stars. Casting: Avy Kaufman Casting, 180 Varick St., 16th Fl., New York, NY 10014. Premiered Aug. 1. Renewed.
Last Sunday’s episode attracted just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 997,000 total viewers. That pales when compared to AMC’s Mad Men which scored a 0.6 demo rating and 2.1 million viewers.
The Backstage listing seems like it’s most likely a typo or error because, for now, they seem to be the only one saying there will be another year.
The season finale of Rubicon, “You Can Never Win,” is set to air next Sunday on AMC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Rubicon return for another year or should it be cancelled?

Rubicon is by far one of the best programs EVER on television. It will have a cult following for eons and AMC will be praised if they decide to renew. Who cares if the ratings aren’t up there with the garbage that the multitudes swill? This is very fine drama, acting, writing, directing, suspense and I thank you, AMC for uplifting the quality for those of us who appreciate great programming. I wish “Damages” was still on, too.
Say it isn’t so Rubicon is one of the best shows
around please bring it back!!!
One of the best! Rubicon is certainly not a run of the mill thriller. It is smart, well written, and like a great page turning novel, keeps you coming back for more. With so much “trash” on TV, too bad the good stuff had to be trashed. I agree with all of the above.
Sorry it is gone. A great show and well beyond mindless entertainment.
Rubicon, well written, great balance between actors, and great direction. Why is it not going to get a chance?
I to, wish they would continue with the Rubicon series. I looked so forward to Sundays: Mad Men and then Rubicon.
I have to say, Annoymous hit it right on the head. There are not to many shows on TV that have some depth to them and make you wonder. Loved the characters too. There is way to much reality TV.

There is sooooo much crap on TV, and I have to PAY for it; you’d think they would indulge us with something as well done and compelling as Rubicon. Maybe the network should let people know that the show would broadcast, give it a little coverage. Or, hey, maybe another network would contract for it.
All I know is I was hoping to see something promoting the next season start time. Come on!!! Give those of us with a brain and good taste something to look forward to.
We do not want the series cancelled, great story line.
My wife and I love this show. Over the years we have observed that anything good on TV gets discontinued. This is just another one. …..Very disappointing.
This is one of the most intriguing shows in last few years specially for people who don’t think Kardashians really worth their time, and all the reality show s are just low budget waste of time. Please let us have this show.
MORE , please.
Please keep Rubicon on the air. It was excellent.
Finally a show you can get into and think a little and it’s going to be cut. What a disapointment.Tv is getting to be a drag, unless you just want to watch mindless show with people making idiots of themselves and doing rediculous abnormal things.
Honestly, I am one of those people who am so sick and tired of Reality shows – one after another!! TV used to be interesting, challenging, exciting, and the watcher couldn’t wait for the next installment of a really good show. That was “Rubicon!!” One of the best. Why do we have to suffer the TV pap, crap, and “idiot mind” shows when something as good as Rubicon gets pulled. What I have never understood is why TV caters to the not so bright, teaching them nothing but not so bright, totally brainless stuff with which to fill their vacant… Read more »
PLEASE!!! I need my Rubicon fix!
Why do they always cancel TV shows that has substance? Whyyyyyyyyyy?!??!!!?????
