After seasons of poor ratings and several cast members moving on, ABC has finally put the Scrubs TV show to rest.
Scrubs follows hospital life as seen through the eyes of Dr. J.D. Dorian (Zach Braff). He left Sacred Heart last season but returns occasionally to help teach a new crop of med students. Others in the cast include Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, Ken Jenkins, Sarah Chalke, Eliza Coupe, Kerry Bishe, Michael Mosley, and Dave Franco.
Last May, despite poor ratings, ABC decided to try to squeeze one more year out of the veteran sitcom. The reason? ABC also produces Scrubs and stood to make big money on additional episodes in syndication.
The network kicked off season nine late last year and registered a low 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 4.5 million viewers. The numbers dropped even further and ABC decided to burn off most of the remaining episodes in January.
In March, ABC aired the final episode of the season. The network’s website promoted it as the “series finale.” We contacted a representative for ABC who told us that it was a mistake but nobody was in any rush to change it.
Now, it appears that ABC has finally cancelled Scrubs after nine seasons on the air. With more than 180 episodes, the sitcom won’t be coming back.
What do you think? Should Scrubs have returned after last season’s Braff send off? Did you like the “med school” setting and characters?

I think we should continue scrubs, because its an AMAZING sitcom, n people enjoy it.
Id say that the ending of season 8 was great. However, there should of been one more episode to sum up what happened after that and so on. I did not like season 9 due to all the new stuff, felt like a whole new show with some of the old actors.
I really liked season 9 despite what eceryone says, i hate how everyone complains that none of the old actors are there, thats because that went to do other things such as the Janitor did the middle. Also if you are going to complain about the new cast why dont u try making a replacement for them. It was also meant to be a new show which was why in the opening it says med school on the x-ray
season 9 is amazing
season 8, great final, agree 100%. but they tried to keep going the show, season 9, not in the proper way. maybe, shat it down for a while, and let them back, all of them, after fw years, will be a great solution. make changes, because after 8 seasons something becomes boring and predicteble. (apolagise for grammar).
Yes, season 9 had some terrible new actors who simply couldn’t keep up with the high standard of comedy acting set by the original cast. Most students were completely unlikable and lacked real character depth.
Season 9 was great, the new cast bring some fresh air and i feel connected with some characters like the first time with JD and Turk..the ending minutes of season 8 last episode make me cry…and i think that was a great good bye for JD.The should continue Scrubs..
I wasn’t really sure about season 9, I thought it’d be horrible after JD left. Then I found out the Janitor left too, so I was even more against it. But after watching it, I have to admit season 9 was awesome. I think Scrubs should continue with the new cast.
Scrubs should have ended after Season 8. It just wasn’t the same in Season 9 with a different setting and characters. Without the original characters it just wasn’t Scrubs.
I would like it if scrubs would air again. I loved the sitcom until season 9… it’s a shame that some actors are moving on… :/
JD is AWESOM ;p
Keep scrubs going. Find a new way of making it as good as the original scrubs. Possibly return all the old characters including JD and the janitor into the new setting.
Scrubs was the best sitcom until season 9. Season 9 ruined scrubs due to the unpleasent settings and characters. Furthermore, there was less of J.D, Carla and the Janitor, which resulted in the downturn of the show. Scrubs should continue to season 10 and possibly more. I also think Bill lawrence should think of a clever way of returning the setting and characters back to original. He could do this by moving all the main characters into the new hospital (including J.D). With these changes, scrubs could once again catch the attention of the public and more importantly meet the… Read more »
srubs was an excelent series but should have finished at season 8 with the ending of john dorian, however if they were to bring it back,
they should keep the original cast members or not bother at all, it will destroy an ending to an amazing tv show.
i loved season 9 i thought it was great they should keep it going
