Is Sherlock finally retiring? Recently, star Benedict Cumberbatch told GQ that season four might be the end for the popular BBC/PBS series, TVLine reports.
Season four of the detective drama will see Holmes (Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) take on three new mysteries. The cast also includes Rupert Graves, Mark Gatiss, Una Stubbs, Louise Brealey, and Amanda Abbington.
In the interview, Cumberbatch says season four “feels like the end of an era”:
It feels like the end of an era, to be honest,’ he says, adding that Season 4 ‘goes to a place where it will be pretty hard to follow on immediately.'”
He later added that this doesn’t necessarily mean the show will end:
We never say never on the show. I’d love to keep revisiting it. But in the immediate future, we all have things that we want to crack on with, and we’ve made something very complete as it is, so I think we’ll just wait and see.”
Season four of Sherlock is slated to premiere in early 2017.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Sherlock? Do you think season four should be the end?
Wishing for four episodes. Even if John takes the lead for solving the mysteries, and Sherlock being available as a consultant would be fun. Loved watching these, and we even bought the videos in the busts.
