FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

SMH. It was a good show and I watched it every time it came on. Networks always cancelling shows before giving them a real chance.
I totally agree with you. It really is a great show and its real!!! It shows how dirty some police are along with small towns.
Please don’t cancel the show. I look forward to watching this every Wednesday it is a very good show a great show actually. Please come back for a second season.
I love this show!! But it figures, this show is too “real” it focuses on too many racially charged situations! So many viewers are uncomfortable.
It’s a great show. 8 pm is not a good time for this show. People are just winding their kids down for bed. Bring it back and change the time, I’ll bet the rating would be through the roof. My new favorite and I’m a Dick Wolf fanatic.
I really enjoyed the show and I think it’s something that he entire county needs to watch. I’m truly sad this will be the end. But hopefully it will return and for it to the the 7th most watch show. That’s still great. This is a great show I genuinely love this show
What the heck, so now we’ll never find out who shot the ass? I am so sick and tired of the networks! They start something get you in to it then cancel it. No solution no bothing!! I’m fed up, I’ve discontinued my cable period!
I love this show. Please bring it back for another season. The actors and actress in this show are phenomenal.
This was a good show I didn’t but know about it until episode 7 so I binge watched to get caught up. I thought for sure it would’ve been a second season. Hopefilly they change their minds and give be it us one more. All the cast members were good in the roles.
I cannot believe this show is yet to g the ax! Pleeeeeease let it get picked up and continued by another network.

Shots fired is an AWESOME series, cancelling would be very poor judgement!!
I hope the FOX network will reconsider cancelling “SHOTS FIRED” I really enjoy this show. SHOTS FIRED clearly shows what’s going on in most of the Afro -American community along with the struggles of being a single parent while trying to keep your children on the right track. Thanks‼️

I love this show & am so disappointed it is being cancelled. Perhaps they should pitch to a different network. We do have options these days. Perhaps OWN or BET may be interested in giving this show a chance.
