FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

Love love love this show. It’s REAL tv. No one wants to admit that it’s the reality of this world right now and they sure don’t want it shown to the world. Shame. Best sitcom in a looooooooong time.

I pray that it returns. This shows exactly what we go through. Countless murders that no one, cares to investigate. I love the show.
I watched and like the show, I think it may have hit home for too many from all walks of life so many couldn’t watch, leading to cancellation, too bad.
I was looking forward to a second season. I have not missed an episode. One of the best shows on TV right now.
I guess this show is too raw for the Fox network and they don’t want to be the ones showing the truth of a harsh real issues.

I love this show. Please bring back a second season. It lets millions of viewers see the real issues of what’s happening in the world and how people really are and I’m going to leave it at that.
I watch this show faithfully which says a lot , it actually keeps you waiting for the next scene unlike so many other shows that stay around showing negative and unhealthy situations. Shots fired is the raw reality of the world portrayed on the family room tv every week. This is a show better yet the show that deserves to have longevity as long as the writing duo continues to explore and deliver the nightmare we are living in communities throughout our troubled country. #suportshotsfired it’s so necessary
