FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

Shots Fired was an outstanding series. I’m so disappointed that it is not being renewed! My is it when you get an intelligent, deep, intense and well acted program…it gets cancelled! I’m so tired of these idiotic reality shows that insult the viewers thursting for great series like Shots Fired. That’s why you’re loosing viewers to Net Flix and others.

this was a excellent show and great actors. the show should not be canceled. Fox you guys are so wrong for this-you didn’t give the show a chance. thanks a lot. hopefully another channel will pick this up.
I would have loved to see another season. I think it is very dramatic to cancel the season. I don’t normally watch tv but I’m hooked to Shots Fired. Hopefully Fox will reconsider. If not I will stop watching tv indefinitely. Bring Shots Fired back
This was an absolutely excellent show. Hated that I had to wait a week to see the new episode. The acting, writing, storyline were all on the money. Why would you remove it and not give it a chance? Wake up Fox.
I really liked ShotsFired. Thought it was one of the better series on this season and am very disappointed that it was cancelled.

That is really disappointing that it won’t be returning. I attend church on Wednesday’s so I’m not home to watch it. I do DVR it. Maybe they need to look at a different day of the week to air it.

Another fail on Fox’s part. Great show aired at completely wrong time. They cancel yet another gem while keeping avg to bad shows. Thank goodness for The Mick which is the funniest show ever!. I am still mad from them cancelling Gang Related- best show they ever had.
Because the Truth Hurts FOX to scared to keep the series going, any show even close to the real thing makes people uncomfortable. We cannot expect to hide in our own bubbles for ever.
i personally thought it was great series was definitely looking forward to a season 2, just really disappointed that it got cancel really hope they would reconsider.
My husband and I really enjoy Shots Fired and was eagerly awaiting a Secondition season. This was a great series.
