NEW YORK – January 25, 2016 – Internet cooking sensation Laura Vitale spreads warmth and love from her kitchen to yours with simple, seasonal meals on the return of Simply Laura, premiering on Saturday, March 5th at 10:30am ET/7:30am PT on Cooking Channel. While Laura’s roots are in Italian food, she is also an all-American girl who uses the power of a hearty meal to bring friends and family together. Throughout the season she shares her passion for food by cooking with her heart to create a blend of easy, enticing recipes.
“Cooking Channel’s millennial audience first discovered Laura Vitale on her popular online cooking series, and now with the return of Simply Laura they will continue to be charmed by her bubbly personality and approachable recipes,” said Didi O’Hearn, Senior Vice President Programming, Food Network & Cooking Channel.
For Laura food is a symbol of joy, and there is no other place where she is happier than cooking in her kitchen. Over the course of the eight half-hour episodes, Laura gives her delicious take on popular American mealtimes and shares personal stories behind each dish. In addition to tasty menus, Laura provides useful tips and tricks, from ideas on repurposing one main ingredient to make multiple meals, to make-ahead recipes to allow the most time to be spent enjoying family and friends, and to shortcuts for creating quick and easy meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
On the season premiere, Laura prepares a special date night with a restaurant-quality meal that she and her husband, Joe, can enjoy in the comfort of their own home. For the freshest ingredients for their dinner, Laura stops by her favorite local market to splurge on a beautiful cut of beef for the star of the plate – Seared New York Strip Steak. Inspired by her grandmother’s “cucina povera” or poor food, she also prepares some steakhouse-worthy side dishes without a hefty price tag such as Green Beans with Herbed Butter and Crispy Ribollita. It takes two to make this date night a success, so while Laura plates the food, Joe arrives home with flowers and helps to set the table, showing date night can be even more romantic and affordable at home.

Internet sensation Laura Vitale moved to the United States when she was 12 years old. As a teenager, she developed her love for cooking from her Italian grandmother, learning many of the recipes for classic Italian dishes over the phone. She began working in her father’s restaurants in her teens, but after they closed in 2008, she wanted to find a new way to continue to share her passion for cooking. In 2010, Laura began a new phase of her culinary career when she started her internet cooking series “Laura in the Kitchen.” The series quickly became a hit and now boasts an audience of several million, making Laura a well-known name in the cooking community.”
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of Simply Laura? Will you watch the new episodes?
Sadly, I do not get the impression that Laura is genuine and everything seems staged. Her cooking skills seem mediocre at best and lack inspiration. Very boring
I am Italian, a good cook of Italian food because I, too. grew up wth my Grandma cooking all day on Sundays when we would visit. I tried just one of Laura’s pasta recipes a year ago from her You Tube channel. My son said, why aren’t you putting in spices like you always do? I said, I want to, but the recipe calls for just salt, pepper and parmesan. We took one bite, and it was so bland, it was not edible. Tossed the entire pot into the disposal. Never again.
If we should only speak for ourselves, as you so “graciously” suggest, then that is what I shall do, as I am here to voice my concerns and thoughts of televising inaccuracy and unpreparedness. I agree that some chefs (when the term is indeed used accurately) model extravagant meals that can only be emulated by a small portion of home cooks. There are, however, numerous chefs that provide limitless recipes that are easily attainable by the average home cook. What sets these chefs apart is their offering of sound explanation of why they are doing something a certain way. This… Read more »
Amen!!!
I couldn’t agree more Maria. Laura can’t speak Italian well at all and doesn’t understand how italy, like any culture, has changed since she moved to the US years ago. All she knows is when she visits, her Nonna cooks for her and the beach is pretty. I know when my Nonna cooked for me as a child, she would intentionally put less flavor (heat, salt, herbs) in my meals because kids like simple food. Maybe that’s why it’s called Simply Laura, because the food is simple and bland.
I loved the show, so glad they included Joe in the episode, they are so sweet together! Can’t wait for next week
I love Laura Vitale, she is my cooking guru!!!! She is the best youtube chef out there, and I am so happy she has her own TV show now, well deserved!!
I have been watching Laura in the Kitchen from the beginning, I am so excited to see her progress now to her own TV show, she really does feel like a friend. So happy for her, love her show, so glad they renewed for season 2 I know it will be as great as season one!! Kudos Laura!!!
So excited that Laura is back!!! She is the best!!!
I love the show, Laura has a great personality and she is very inspirational. I think her and her husband are fantastic, I’m Italian too and I enjoy her recipes and ideas. I’ve made several of her recipes and they were all delicious. Looking forward to the next episode!
I kindly request The Cooking Channel to provide its viewers with professionally trained chefs. Although the home cook, admittedly like myself, can share good recipes, they are just that – good, at best. In order for today’s viewers to invest a half hour of time, I believe they’d appreciate exceptional recipes and technique… The recipes Simply Laura shares are easily found via any web search and subpar. I am of Italian descent – born and raised with my very own cherished Nonna in my home – and am used to consuming and preparing more tasty dishes…
I kindly request you only speak for yourself! I also enjoy watching professionally trained chefs, but, I find myself doing more of the recipe’s provided by “untrained” chef’s, such as Laura. While professionally trained chefs are great to watch, they can be a little unrealistic for a home cook. There is something to be said about a “home” trained cook, they are doing it for the love of family. Almost every chef on The Cooking or Food network, has said that they learned the best from watching their mothers or grandmothers. My husband was born & raised in Italy, he… Read more »
Christine, my reply to your post is above. Again, the “Italian” spoken by Laura is truly telling of how negatively she represents Italy and its culture. Both cooking and Italian classes would benefit Laura.
Then watch those Chefs and stop watching Laura. (I bet you watch Barefoot Contessa, hmm not a trained chef, just a cook whosee been doing it a long time) You simply don’t like her personality or demeanor. I bet hands down she could chop you under the table. I’m of Italian-American decent and sweetie every Nonna I’ve known has their own version of the same sauce, pasta, desert that started ions ago. Even Mario Batali who is of Italian decent will tell each region is completely different. Some use garlic and some never do, your only on blip on that… Read more »
I love how the trolls have arrived to trash Laura. Hopefully someone who runs this site will send over their IP addresses to Cooking Channel so they can have fun with the defamation suit. (google Sue Scheff and see what happened when she was trolled). Hope you trolls don’t mind having your lives ruined! Anyway, Laura is incredible, I’ve been watching her for years and am one of her millions of followers. So happy that she’s been renewed! Onward and upward!
This happens to be a free country. People are entitled to their opinions.
I agree. Stating your opinion is legal. I never knew Joe’s middle name was “Elliot!”… Must be difficult to not be able to delete people’s comments when they see through the rhetoric.
Will not be watching. I’m not impressed with her cooking and actually my Italian mom can do a better job than Laura.
I really love Laura, any recipe I have made from her has always come out great! I love her personality and the great relationship she shares with her husband Joe and their family & friends. I am so happy it was renewed for another season, I look forward to watching it and lots of great recipes to come.
I’d really have to agree with Sarah, I am not impressed by this young lady’s cooking. For the standards of Youtube cooks she is passable but her skills do not go further than that. I will give season two a miss.
Loved the show !! Love her personality and makes easy receipts that everyone loves !!
Watched the first season and will not be coming back to watch season two. The show lacked the same interest that other shows on the channel have. Very “cookie cutter” type recipes.
I did not enjoy the show. She seems very fake to me. I’ve tried her recipes in the past and didn’t like them at all! She is just not a likable person.
