SPOILERS! The third season finale of FOX‘s Sleepy Hollow TV series, brought the death of main character, Lieutenant Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie. In March of 2015, FOX gave the show an early third season renewal, which was not repeated this year. So Sleepy Hollow is cancelled, right? Not necessarily, according to THR report, based on information from unnamed network sources.
In Sleepy Hollow‘s season three finale episode, “Ragnarok,” Abbie died a hero, sacrificing both life and soul in an effort to defeat Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon). Unlike he had, earlier in season three, Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) was unable to save her, and according to Pandora, there is no bringing Abbie back. Offscreen chatter indicates Beharie had been wanting to leave the series for a while.

According The Hollywood Reporter, sources say both that FOX is likely to renew Sleepy Hollow for a fourth season, and that there has been “no talk” of making season four Sleepy Hollow‘s last. The report cites notes that the end of American Idol has left a big hole in the network’s schedule.

In a joint statement, published by THR, producers 20th Century FOX and showrunner Clifton Campbell said:
“The [season] finale featuring the tragic death of Abbie Mills was a very dramatic ending and a bold move for the show, but Sleepy Hollow has always been known for its shocking finales,” producers 20th Century Fox Television and showrunner Clifton Campbell said in a joint statement to THR. “We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we’ve seen onscreen. We thank Nicole Beharie for bringing Abbie and Sleepy Hollow to life. We are currently discussing season four, and should the series be picked up for another season, we have some exciting scenarios and new avenues we want to explore.”

I really enjoy the show and also will miss Abbie Mills. I really liked her character and her relationship with Crane, but I realize she needs to move on. I hope to see her in something else. I like her acting and expressions. I would like to see what a 4th season would be like to pass judgement. Some shows run past the initale interest, like Grey’s Anatomy. Drug out way to long in my opinion on. Hoop to see you back in the fall.

I was actually proud of Fox for having a series that co-starred an up and coming black female actress, invoked thought into our U.S.History, and a cast with such great chemistry that it made you feel…actually feel the emotions that were portrayed. However, I am very disappointed with the decision to kill off Nicole Beharie at the end of season 3…and I am even more disappointed to read about the treatment she received over the last few seasons. The show is a loser. What a waste of time. Fox should come up with a new show that people will actually want to watch. Can they read the ratings, or are they retarded? Another season? Really? Talk about beating a dead horse. A show about a pig in space could get better ratings. Another season would be stupid and a total waste of time. Put it out of it’s misery.
The show needs to be renewed. Story lines change and so do main characters. I liked Abby and the chemistry with Crane. It is unfortunate she is leaving but the story line is interesting and unique. I am sure the writers have much in store for the new season. I just wish it was back on its old night and not on friday. The move to Friday is when the ratings started to drop.
Yes, I will keep watching Sleepy Hollow because I’m a true fan. However, I did love the chemistry between Abbie and Ichabod. I will miss that. I hope she returns.
I very much enjoy the show. I find that Crane in the modern world with his old world charm is a good mix with the others in the show. I have always liked fantasy. And look forward to season 4. The show has hinted befor that there was somekind of goverment agency that fights monsters. Now we will get to see what it’s like.
