Last night brought big ratings for FX and the sixth season finale of Sons of Anarchy. With 5.2 million total viewers and 3.5 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic, it was the second-highest rated episode in the show’s history as well as the best-rated season finale.
As part of the FX press release, the cable channel announced that season seven will premiere sometime next fall. While it’s been presumed that there would be a seventh season, I believe this is the first official announcement.
They also referred to season six as the “penultimate 6th season,” an official indication that season seven will be the end of the show.
While Sons of Anarchy is ending next year, there have been some rumblings that creater Kurt Sutter is developing a prequel series that would take place in the 1960s.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Sons of Anarchy? Do you think season seven should be the end? Would you be interested in a prequel?
I believe that season seven is a good place to end the show but i will miss it dearly. The thought of a prequel season would be really cool. A lot of questions that you have to put to the back of your mind could be answered making it feel like such a better show. Not that it wasn’t but better than most and people would be going back and watching the show more often if they knew just why some of the characters turned out they way they did as they grew up. So thumbs up to the show… Read more »
What I think SOA should keep going and let the kids grow like OP kids and Jacks kids let Able take the President spot their so much more storys and ideas to put in this show keep the alive please
I watched the final show for SOA and it was the best. I disagree with the others who say they would like the show to continue with the son taking over as president of the club. This show ended as it should have, with Jax realizing all the wrong and bad things he had done and had his club do, and wanting something different for his boys. Fantastic series, started out kinda slow, but after a few episodes a person couldnt wait to watch the next episode. I watched on Netflex so could watch a whole season without waiting for… Read more »
I am so sad to see that season 7 will be the final. This is one of the best series I have ever watched, it started out slow and by about the 40th episode you were truly into it all the way. I’m watching season 7 now, and when the season is complete, gonna go back to season 1 and re-watch what I might have missed. I’ve watched the entire series on netflix and so happy I had it to watch, otherwise probably never would have known about this outstanding show. I don’t get Fx. All of the actors are… Read more »
This show is truly awesome! I have loved it from day one! It’s been a wonderful 7 year journey.
Here’s what I think should happen. The show should continue. Fast forward a couple decades ahead and have Able take the gavel. The show made it clear that he has the mentality to be the new king.
I don’t understand how the show has such high ratings but the last season is 7? I’m saddened by this news and I sure will miss watching the show on Tuesday nights.
The show wasn`t “cancelled” . It was always Kurt Sutters plan for it to go only 7 seasons. That was stated by him multiple times.
Exactly what I said below. Kurt Sutter had a 7 year timeline from the day he wrote down the idea of SOA. I have read about it and heard actors on talk shows mention this many times. He has said that nothing would deter him from his decision. To me, that makes Mr. Sutter not just a television show writer but a true artist. Anyone who watched and loved SOA from the first episode on would already know this, as much as we want this amazing story and cast to go on forever.
People watching the show don`t pay attention to the details. They just watch it. Sadly though a lot of shows are canceled prematurely for a lot of obvious reasons . Sometimes they are really good shows and just get lousy time slots and/or no promotion. Kurt Sutter was out there the whole time with SOA stating his 7 season plan for SOA.
this is so my favorite show !!!!! Why is it when you find a show you love they take it away !!! Everyone fight for this show to stay on just like Justified !!!
I can’t believe season 7 is the last??? Why stop something when it’s dearly loved! I’m highly upset that next week is the last episode and really hope FX changes its mind! So many loyal viewer’s deeply disappointed
I love this show but ending on a high is the best. Leaving a little to the imagination and always wanting more will be something to talk about for years to come. When shows try to hard to keep a good thing going they eventually suck and get forgotten.
If this is the last season then I can finally cancel my cable subscription. No need for it anymore. So very sad to see it go. Probably the best series I’ve ever had the pleasure to see.
If a prequel is all I can get then bring it on!
In the episode called Greensleeves, two weeks ago, I saw perhaps the most brilliant use of music and story colliding, to give an even more uneasy feeling to the scenes . It starts out as Wendy Teller (the excellent Drea DeMatteo) walks through the nursury between two sleeping children, the picture of innocence. We hear bells quietly and beautifully tap out Greensleaves. Move to the safe house where Gemma (who has actually caused all the madness to rain down on their heads, but hasn’t yet been “outed”), has been tending to the rehabbing of a mother. A lot of our… Read more »
Wasn’t interested in it for the first 3 seasons, but then got into it and couldn’t stop.
Is one of the best series I have ever watched.
KEEP GOING WHAT EVER SEQUEL YOU CAN DREAM UP……………..
Don’t cancel the show I love this show please renew and please bring opie back.
Sons of Anarchy is my favorite show & I am extremely saddened by this news!!! I think the show needs to continue & the prequel would be cool also
