Star Trek: Discovery has some new company. Deadline reports the upcoming CBS All Access TV show has recast some roles and added new cast members, including Kenneth Mitchell and Rekha Sharma.
Recently, we reported the premiere date for the sci-fi series has been pushed back again. Initially, the show was slated to debut in May. Now, it’s unclear when it will launch. The cast includes Jason Isaacs, Mary Wiseman, Sonequa Martin-Green, Rainn Wilson, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, and James Frain.
On Star Trek: Discovery, Kenneth Mitchell will play “Kol, a commanding officer in the Klingon empire. He replaces previously cast Shazad Latif, who will now play Starfleet officer Lieutenant Tyler. Additionally, Rekha Sharma has been cast as “Commander Landry, the security officer of the Starship Discovery.” Also joining the ensemble are Clare McConnell and Damon Runyan, who will play Klingon leaders Dennas and Ujilli, respectively.
The CBS All Access series is being executive produced by Bryan Fuller, Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth.
What do you think? Are you a Star Trek fan? Will you watch Star Trek: Discovery?
YES, have watched Star Trek from the beginning, including all the movies.
Hope this show does come to be. The show should be on a channel that doesn’t call for extra $$ from us.
I’ve also watched ‘Trek’ from the beginning and have enjoyed most of it (apart from the signature tune to ‘Enterprise’), and all the films. But as I’m in the U.K. I hear & read all the hype … but when and how will we get it over here?
i still hold that the theme song is what got enterprise canceled. loved the show, but the theme song, both versions, were awful, just awful
Star Trek is about including everyone. CBS only will include pay to view. Me and mine will be passing on this greedy company and the obvious pandering for our hard earned money.
I’ll sign up for CBS All Access when they premier Star Trek Discovery, and not until. So hurry up already CBS!
Honestly, I’m kinda bitter that, when they’re finally making a new Trek series, they’re only releasing it on a service one has to pay separately for. I would have liked to have seen The Good Fight, but I’m not bitter about that one…but Star Trek should belong to everyone. I’m definitely boycotting CBS All Access and hoping it will fail and release this programming back to regular CBS. If not, at least I hope that someday they’ll show reruns of the new Trek series on CBS (or one of its sister cable stations, if it has any).
Want to know what makes it worse? That it will only cost money here in the states. Netflix got the contract for this in every other country but ours. Thank goodness for VPN’s
I have been a trekkie fan since the first show back in the 60’s
I have ALL series, movies on dvd blue-ray. I look forward to this version.
Will not pay to watch on All Access. Pay too much already.
Have been a Star Trek fan from the start of the franchise. Please bring it on as soon as possible!
