Katherine Heigl spent several years on the ABC hit show Grey’s Anatomy. Unfortunately, her own series State of Affairs on NBC didn’t last nearly as long. It’s been cancelled after one season.
State of Affairs follows a top CIA analyst (Heigl) who assembles the President of the United States’ Daily Briefing (PDB), weighing the vital security issues that face the nation. She has a close personal relationship with the commander-in-chief (Alfre Woodard) as she was once engaged to the president’s now-deceased son. The rest of the cast of this dramatic thriller includes Adam Kaufman, Sheila Vand, Cliff Chamberlain, Tommy Savas, and David Harbour.
The show debuted on November 17th with a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 with 8.69 million viewers. It was a decent start but the numbers took a big fall in week two, dropping more than 36%. The numbers kept falling and first season ended up averaging just a 1.25 rating in the demo and 5.26 million.
The last episode, which aired on February 16th, hit a new series low in the demo with a 0.97 rating and 4.47 million viewers.
It was clear from the ratings that there wouldn’t be a second season and NBC has now officially cancelled it.
What do you think? Did you like the State of Affairs TV show? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled or renewed this show for a second season?
I loved the show and they should keep it on
Boston Legal, Alias, State of Affairs…the list of really quality shows that kept people riveted continues to grow….while The Bachelor and Big Brother continues to ….
Loved the show… Keep it on
What!!!! My wife & I been waiting for season 2 . Omg we love that show!!
I can’t believe you cancelled State of Affairs. I really liked it and Katherine H. In it… This really blows.
It was one of the best shows ever
Loved the show. Very disappointed !!
My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with State Of Affairs!!! We had no idea that it had been cancelled; shocked and extremely disappointed!!!!!!!! Why can’t more people like quality entertainment programs rather than self-involved reality nonsense.
This SUCKS I thought it was a good show o well I’ll find something else to watch not on nbc
I really liked this show. I feel so bad that I was left hanging at the end of last season with no resolution.
Good shows are always being cancelled for low ratings, most of us who are busy working don’t get to play catch up till much later and every time we get attached to the show it would get cancelled. Maybe next time take a poll from your target audience. Hope the network would reconsider.
You had a fabulous cast and writers that had created a highly intelligent drama. You blew it NBC.
I would NOT have cancelled this show. It was terrific
I loved this show & thought they could have taken it in many directions.,it’s amazing how a show with this much depth was cancelled when u look at half of what’s being aired & renewed. Network mistake, audience loss.
THIS HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL — but NBC pulled a Star Trek with the ratings. Epic fail NBC
