Katherine Heigl spent several years on the ABC hit show Grey’s Anatomy. Unfortunately, her own series State of Affairs on NBC didn’t last nearly as long. It’s been cancelled after one season.
State of Affairs follows a top CIA analyst (Heigl) who assembles the President of the United States’ Daily Briefing (PDB), weighing the vital security issues that face the nation. She has a close personal relationship with the commander-in-chief (Alfre Woodard) as she was once engaged to the president’s now-deceased son. The rest of the cast of this dramatic thriller includes Adam Kaufman, Sheila Vand, Cliff Chamberlain, Tommy Savas, and David Harbour.
The show debuted on November 17th with a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 with 8.69 million viewers. It was a decent start but the numbers took a big fall in week two, dropping more than 36%. The numbers kept falling and first season ended up averaging just a 1.25 rating in the demo and 5.26 million.
The last episode, which aired on February 16th, hit a new series low in the demo with a 0.97 rating and 4.47 million viewers.
It was clear from the ratings that there wouldn’t be a second season and NBC has now officially cancelled it.
What do you think? Did you like the State of Affairs TV show? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled or renewed this show for a second season?
State of Affairs was a GREAT show (near equivalent to BOCSH2o2o)… better than many (including Secretary of State that I gave up on after Season 2/3). Since SOA was “old” (2014) show and only one season I kept waiting for it to “suck” … and it never did!!! Must have been a marketing “miss” cuz I never knew of this show until now. @NBC.com #NBC
I didn’t know about this show. I just watched season 1 in 2 days. I loved it. I went to look for season 2 only to see it was canceled. State of Affairs should come back. It ended as if there was something big that was going to happen. Ugh bring it back pls.
Same here…. this was a GREAT show… better than many. Since it was “old” and only one season I kept waiting for it to “such” … and it never did!!! Must have been a marketing “miss” cuz I never knew of this show until now.
I think there should be a series 2 as i have got into the programme well thats what l think any way who agrees
I would have renewed. It took a while to get into it, but the plot got stronger. Besides, there is a lot of others “show” that I would have cut before this. Oh well!
Fantastic show. Bring it back!
Bring it back please, we loved it.
I loved this show! I don’t get to watch shows when they’re actually on.. I record it and watch it when I have chance!! Bring it back!!!
Shame that networks those days have no patience, some show need to settle in like a good wine to hit off, they cant all be like Game of Thrones. Shame that ” State of Affairs ” has been cancelled. I hope some other network will pick it up like they did with Nashville.
Very nice show, much better from many, NBC should make second thoughts!!!!
I LOVED THE SHOW! I just never had time to watch. I was waiting till it was on Netflix but it got canceled and I want back. I BELIVE IF YOU GUYS MAKE IT AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX OR A SIMILAR PROGRAM, I GUARANTEE THIS SHOW WILL GET WAY MORE RATINGS. Because only 25% of the population turn on there TV to watch TV shows, and 75% of the population only turn on there TV to watch the news or a live show. And use Netflix to watch TV shows. Because it’s more convenient to watch when I’m not working. At… Read more »
Amazing show! Sell Season 2 to another network! Ridiculous to keep dumb comedy over a riveting show like State of Affairs. Any wonder why society’s mentality continues to decline?
We are very disappointed this show was cancelled,
They have all they need to make season 2, or 3, or many others. so they definitely shoud go for it.
i would have made season 2 and 3 it was a nice show i watched season 1 in 1 day pissed
This was a great show and I really miss it. Wish they would reconsider bringing back…
