We don’t have to worry that Survivor will be voted off the CBS schedule this year since the venerable reality series has already been renewed. The 40th season is expected to begin airing early in 2020. While the show continues to do well in the ratings for CBS, the numbers have dwindled over time. At some point, Survivor will either be cancelled or at least cut back to one cycle per year. When will that happen? Stay tuned.
A competition series, the 39th season of Survivor, aka “Island of the Idols”, is hosted once again by Jeff Probst. Master players/winners Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine return to mentor a new crop of players that have been split into two tribes. The Lairo tribe members are Ronnie Bardah (35), Elizabeth Beisel (26), Missy Byrd (24), Dean Kowalski (28), Tom Laidlaw (60), Aaron Meredith (36), Vince Moua (27), Karishma Patel (37), Elaine Stott (41), and Chelsea Walker (26). The Vokai tribe is comprised of Lauren Beck (28), Molly Byman (27), Janet Carbin (59), Kellee Kim (29), Jason Linden (32), Jack Nichting (23), Noura Salman (36), Tommy Sheehan (26), Jamal Shipman (33), and Dan Spilo (48).
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
12/19 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

For comparisons: The 37th season (Fall 2018) of Survivor on CBS averaged a 1.47 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.32 million viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Survivor TV series on CBS? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a 41st season?
I have watch every survivor and I really enjoy it. Lately I do get tired of seeing past winners come back. They have already won their million. There are so many people that have the dream of getting on the show and a bigger dream of winning. I feel that was the excitement of watching the game to know this game can be life changing for someone. Please please quit bringing them back. It is good to see the new ones learn the game on their own, like it was when the show first aired. Go back to the basics.
I’ve watched every season of Survivor and it looks like the woke trend finally made it to this show. Sad. It really can stand on its own without the preachy race cards and fabricated #MeToo moment. Who wouldn’t think Dan was a plant? He is a Hollywood insider and a known risk. The cynical producers knew exactly what they were getting when they added him to the cast. I think it’s time for this groundbreaking show to end its run before it becomes even more of a joke.
It is very upsetting that the Survivors have to lie and cheat and be dishonest but that is the game. I would like to see a show where the participants are around the same age and different gender and ethnicity. It’s always the young against the older. It looks as those my other request is coming to light in season 40. Winners against winners.
This season spiraled into a s#*t storm. Sooo much disappointment that I stopped recording and watching. So many ethical failures from cast and crew/production.
I have enjoyed Survivor over the years but have chosen not to finish this season. I was totally taken aback by how far this season’s contestants will go to further themselves in a game – scary to think what they do in real life. I will go back to watching the next season but if it turns into a disgusting show like this one has, I will again and forever quit watching. I have morals.
We love the show. But cannot believe on the last shown episode shown, the one contestant called for in a round about way, the race card. Really. Sad
I have watched every season of Survivor and this is the WORST season EVER. Too many milllenniales (need more age diversity).Rob and Sandra seem to be a game gimmick, challenges are repetitive. I want to see a players outlast, outwit, and outplay without all the social issues of the day.
This season has been far too woke and preachy for me. That’s not why I watch Survivor. Jeff’s insistence that Survivor mirrors society is a part of the problem. Where in real life do you get to vote off and blindside the people with whom you are co-dependent. Survivor is an entertainment for me, and it’s stopped being entertaining.
Well said Vic.
Survivor…so far a boring season…Boston Rob and Sandra’s “lessons” are lame….anyone who has watched the show would be aware of the information they dispense. The challenges are repetitious… need some new challenges. Sorry to see this happening.
I really hope you can respond to your old judgment, it has now been 7 episodes and let me just say this has been the best season post-merge I have watched over 15 seasons span.
