It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
We love the show, it’s different and deserves another chance!!
I really liked this show. it’s great because it doesn’t have gay or weird sexual episodes and no bad language. Also, the dynamic between the taxi driver and the cop is really cool. I hope to have this program shown on another network . The major networks seem to be stuck on smutty teenager, gross crime and vampires, which are really not that interesting.

This isn’t the first show NBC has cancelled that was a good one.
I guess no swearing and unnecessary violence is not good.
“TAXI BROOKLYN” is the best summer TV SHOW On nbc ! NBC cancels to many great shows… I figured it out, America does not watch nbc’s shows because all the great shows get cancelled, why start watching a new show, only to get cancelled in the end!! So sad !
Yes i would watch a second season
I really enjoyed the show and thought it had a lot going for it. The ending of the first season definitely had me wanting more. I really can’t understand the networks that put out a great series and still cancel it anyway.
Greatest show, please continue
I was waiting to find our whats going on the next chapters. So sad that Ill never find our. Please continue this show
Boooo NBC you seriously suck! I really liked this show bring it back!
My daughter found season 1 on Netflix and we just finished it and were looking for season 2. We are so disappointed to discover it was cancelled and didn’t make more seasons. I wish NBC would consider selling the rights to Hulu or another distributor to continue on the story. We’d watch it!!
I would love a second season of taxi Brooklyn. Beat show ever!
Bring it back like now!! Not the greatest show but definitely funny and worth watching.
I stumbled across this tv show on Netflix. I do not understand why the ratings were low because this show Is entertaining. I enjoyed all 12 episodes!!! I really hope another network picks up this show
You’ve got to have a second season!!!! We love it!
