It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
It was a good show. I enjoy watchin.I hope.someone picks.It up…
I really enjoyed the show on NetFlix and was hoping for Season Two. The character interaction was well done, the writing was funny and it was nice to see Ally Walker again in a comedic role. The actor who played Leo was superb.
It pained me to watch. The problem was the writing from beginning to end and the actors trying too hard (as if they felt they had to compensate for the writing).
sorry I guess it was a duplicate, feel free to delete
Discovered the series on Netflix and love it, I do hope someone picks it up for another season, it isnt often that I find a show worth a marathon watch.
Loved season one which I viewed on Netflix. Nice blend of comedy and drama with a solid cast.. Hope it gets picked up for a second season by another producer.
Like all the other comments, did not know it was on. Who the hell watches NBC? Hope Netflix will pick up such a wonderful show with wonderful acting.
Just watched 3 episodes of Taxi Brooklyn, and I was hooked.Hate NBC for their blatant liberalism..that’s why I did not know it was on TV. Saw it on Netflix. Cancelled??? Why not, NBC sucks. So many people like me who won’t watch NBC did not know it was even on. Sure wish somebody with good taste and no agenda would pick it up.
I dislike Fox for their blatant “conservatism,” but I don’t let that stop me from watching plenty of entertainment shows on that network (although you couldn’t pay me to watch the ridiculously poor journalism on the Fox News channel).
I watched on Netflix LOVED IT! Please bring it back!!!
Loved the show! I agree it should be renewed as a Netflix show!
I LOVD IT TOO, BUT WOULD NETFLIX ADD IN THE FOUL LANGUAGE THAT THEY HAVE IN MOST OF THEIR SHOWS? I CAN LIVE WITHOUT THAT. THIS WAS A CLEAN SHOW AND HAD A LOT OF COMEDY AND ACTION IN IT.
I watched the first season on Netflix and thought that it was a brilliant and super great show. So hope for more seasons. If not on the network then maybe exclusive to Netflix. I give it five stars.
Just watched this amazing show in 1 day on netflix on day off. Would definitely have watched a 2nd season. Loved it.
Please renew this amazing show. Great mix of drama and comedy. I love Cat and Leon. I don’t understand how it wasn’t more popular. Thank you
I loved it too. I’ve been binge watching on Netflix. I hate it has ended.
This is one of the better programs I have seen for a long time. TOO BAD there will be no more seasons.
I also watched the whole series in 2 days on netflix absolutley loved it. I did’nt even know the show existed on NBC last year. Hope netflix picks up the series hate to be left hanging. Even if they make a closure movie that would be good too.
