It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
Definitely should be season 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 and so on…..
Couldn’t wait for season 2–what a let down!!
Sorry I never got a chance to watch it when it was on NBC – Just binged it on Netflix – would have certainly watched a second season – loved the story line and chemistry!
Can’t believe they would cancelled a show as gripping as this one I would of watched the next season and the next one but it’s too late what a waste
saw on netflix and give it a 10. netflix should do season 2.
I’m watching this show on Netflix and I love it. It is very humerous and not your typical crime show. They should have more than 1 season. I would definitely watch a second season.
I just finished watching this on Netflix as well and loved it. I’m disappointed it won’t have a second season. Great cliffhanger!
Disappointed back in 2014 when it aired a n NBC when heard there would be No Season 2. Since then have seen many people saw it but on Netflix and were disappointed no season 2 or more. It was an enjoyable show.
While the premise was a bit weak, the cast is fantastic and the show is very entertaining, I am very disappointed that it only had the one season. I think it failed because the script writing was too intelligent. Let’s face it, not enough morons who buy everything they see on tv were watching the show, the 5 million smart people watching the show…need to shop at walmart more often if they want to have viewing options like this.
Taxi Brooklyn is amazing two unlikely people working together really want a season 2 ,3,4 and more what happened to 5 yrs she had him as a consultant. Love this show
I loved it but even if a show gets cancelled we deserve to have it end with a decent conclusion. Too many unanswered questions. There is enough on NBC I would cancel before this one. I saw it on Netflix and didn’t know about NBC
I loved the show. Renew it for a 2nd season
I would of liked for NBC to continued with taxy Brooklyn it was one of my many FAVORITE shows. I loved all the cast it was just so funny and interesting to watch.
Your one and many fans Karla
I just found this series and truly enjoyed it… not a prude at all but was nice to watch a show that had no serious violence nudity or foul language attached to it and then there was nothing to look forward to… that’s just about right for NBC… congratulations on giving the spot on certain to please an audience but can’t just give enough of sex violence and nudity that’s what sells…
NOOOOO! cant believe it, why start a great show then can it come one give it another chance i want season 2!!!!!!
Just watched this on netflix was so excited to see when season 2 will be on to hear its been cancelled gutted is the word great series that deserves a chance over other networks come on someone we want MORE
Such a shame there are no more seasons!! I’ve only just found the first on Netflix and watched it all in a week. It was just easy to watch
