It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
Of course I liked it on Netflix and didn’t notice only one season
shocking mate
COMON BRING IT BACK
its a shame that it will not be returning, I am from Birmingham England and I am 13years of age would watch this on a daily with my mum because it was a family friendly crime show un like power that has sex scene, violence and other unsuitable stuff. I REALLY HOPE THEY CAN BRING BACK THE SHOW!!!!!
Pathetic, cancelling season 2. Period. The idot who makes these decisions is clearly not thinking of the viewers who watch this programme, i dont care about the ratings, at the end of the day you the person who keep cancelling programs just because it suits you is ridiculous. Clearly you still get paid the same whether 10 million viewers or 5 million viewers. So start thinking about us the people who do watch this program.
I LOVED this Show! Just discovered it in 2017. Smart, funny, well-acted, not inwr-the-top violent, fast paced. Please bring it back! How could you leave us with that season 1 cliffhanger, and not even bring it to some graceful conclusion!
We just watched season one on Netflix. Like a lot of your other viewers we think NBC doesn’t know what they are doing. So sick of reality shows or stupid sitcoms that aren’t even good. So many series are all about drugs and gangs there isn’t anything to watch. This one at least had very likable characters and really kept you interested.
i agree, very good show, entertaining and fun to watch. typical for NBC.
This seems to be par for the course. I can’t stand what’s being shown on TV these days because it just crap and they’re ruined by commercials. So, I find the shows I like on Netflix. Then, all the good shows like Taxi Brooklyn get cancelled.
I love this show watched it on Netflix like a marathon! What? I want more!
I love Taxi Brooklyn got Comedy, Action very real. They should make a second season. There is lots of non sense crap out there.
Loved it then it came to episode 12 the end and it ended on such a cliff hanger does the son and wife get rescued does the mum not actually be on the boat do cat and taxi man get together finally does Annabella go to jail does taxi drivers friend survive how can there be all this stuff for there not being another season ready to watch so frustrating they need to make another .
I loved this show, always exciting and the chemistry between the characters flowed perfectly. I REALLY want the seasons to keep going. PLEASE BRING BACK!!
You left me hanging at the end of season one of “Taxi Brooklyn.” Did everyone actually die that Cat loved? I feel really cheated and I’m mad at Netflix for putting me through hours and hours of episodes, and then to not have a real ending. Obviously, there should have been a second season. It was the most unsatisfying ending to any series I’ve ever seen, and there should have been at least one more episode the way “Longmire” did to tie things up. That was kind of disappointing, too, but at least it had an ending. I’m losing faith… Read more »
Love the show and cast!!!
I would certainly watch season 2. O was introduced to it on Netflix and literally just watched the last episode which left me with all sorts of unresolved emotions. It had something that you don’t get from other cop shows .enough comedy to not leave you depressed or angry when it’s done. It tackled stereotypes and xenophobia. I wish I could see a season 2
