It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
I won’t watch another NBC program. They keep cancelling the good dramas and leaving the audience hanging.
Taxi Brooklyn just watched series 1 and loved it please..please..please make series 2.
How horrible to leave us hanging like that and then cancel the show. Just not right. I won’t watch any more new shows on NBC
How can a Show cancel with such a cliffhanger at the end. That is horrible. I won’t watch any new shows on NBC.
So disappointed to find that there is no more Series and seeing its now 2018 there isn’t any news to say it will continue. So sad, loved that show and so many unanswered endings to the first series. Shame.
Season 2 please!!!!
I’m so annoyed that there’s no season 2 when they left on such a cliffhanger. Really dumb!!!
Very good show. Dissapointed knowing NBC won’t go to season 2.
My girlfriend and I couldn’t wait to see each new episodes as the previous ones left us hanging. Especially the final one. I hate to go through life not knowing if Cat’s mother was on that ferry that blew up….. or if Leo ever got to see his son and x-wife. What a terrible way to end a good show. I’m really surprised that the ratings were not any better. Maybe, the show wasn’t promoted enough.
I watched the season on Netflicks. I thought it was light detective work, good, it has romance, good, it has different ethnic groups coming together, good, portrays the gangsters as bad people, good, shows friends putting thier life on the line for each other, good, has action scenes that pull you in, good, makes you think about your own values and the people around you, excellent!
Liked the show… except for the non-ending. Or, was it supposed to be a very sad show where everyone dies? Sad, sad, sad.
Just saw season 1 on Netflix in just a few days and loved it. Looked it up on NBC to see if they had another season. So bummed out to find out never picked up for a 2nd season. Come on guys, there are worse stuff out there with lots of seasons under it’s belt.
Please bring it back
Please please bring back
Can’t believe there is not another season two this just cannot believe After the ending like this and there is not another season what the hell
Netflix should create a season 2 or a Netflix Taxi Brooklyn Movie that would wrap up all of the loose ends that Episode 12 left unanswered!
