It was a very positive start for the new series. According to FX, the debut drew 4.7 million viewers between both of the night’s airings — more than the debuts of American Horror Story and Sons of Anarchy.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you like The Americans TV series? Do you think that it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
JUSTIFIED is the best TV show and THE AMERICANS is the second best show. Both are superbly written, directed and acted. Both keep you wanting more, more and more. When they are on time flies, it seems that they just started and then they are ending. The studios would be “out of their minds” to cancel either show. They are the only shows I feel I cannot miss.
One of the most intelligent series on tv-glad it’s renewed!
Best program on late-night TV !! Nice to revisit the Reagan era once again and be reminded of the delicate dance we enjoyed with the USSR.
The Americans started me to watching tv again 🙂
I love this show please renew for season 2.
Great show. It is riveting. Everyone I know has been hooked on it. Suspenseful and intriguing. One of the best shows on TV.
Best show on FOX lots of action and suspense
Terrific! Writing is superb. Do not cancel.
I get where they were going with this and the show had some watchable moments….overall it is very well done, but a bit too low-key for me.
I guess I am the type who prefers more action, like the Bourne movies and Burn Notice.
I watched about six episodes but that was it. Good acting, good casting and overall an intelligent drama, however, but not intense or fast moving enough for my tastes.
I love this show! Another smartly written show with great acting and suspense from FX. Please please please do not cancel this show!!!!!
I really enjoy this it’s very suspenseful.
I think this program is very good. Just enough suspense to keep you guessing and intrested. I have not missed an episode. Can not wait to see next weeks episode. In my opinion, this program should get a five star rating. Keep going.
Great show! I have been waiting for something new and exciting to come out.
The writing is very good and having a degree in soviet history I can say this show has done a very good job so far and I am very impressed.
Love, love, love this show. Acting and storyline are terrific. I can’t wait till Wednesday! I have all my family and friends watching and they feel the same way!!! Keep this show going!
Keep it going! I was not blown away with first episode but its starting to get really good!!
I think it is trash tv and turned it off 10 min into the show. I couldn’t continue on in good conscience after the scenes of felatio and rape of a teenage girl while her father walked away all within the first 10 min. Male american tv executives should be very proud of what they put on prime time viewing. Just trash. I’ve had enough of all of it…
Completely disagree with the poster above although he has the right to watch (or not watch) whatever he chooses. Just my opinion, but I appreciated the great use of tension and the intriguingly complex relationship between the show’s leads. Obviously this one won’t be for everyone, but I for one am glad that this appears to be something unique instead of another boring run-of-the-mill procedural.
P.S. There is no “rape of a teenage girl while her father walked away” in this episode at all.
That was not her father and it was not shown in the first 10 min. If memory recalls, it was the second half of the episode.
