The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

I began watching this show in November 2009, after I lost my job. I LOVE this show! I have to wonder what somebody was thinking to take this off the air. There is nothing to compare this to. Bonnie, her crew, and her Mom are the BEST!
I can’t believe one of the best, funny, and entertaining shows is going off the air. It’s really such a shame that when there is a true winner, it gets cancelled and all that’s left is the same gossip, talk shows, soaps, law and Dr. shows with all the violence and gore. Bonnie is such a talent and part of her draw comes from how natural a comedian she is and the interaction she has with her crew on air. Here’s another good show that hits the dust in favor of the junk supid shows for teens and over that… Read more »
I watch or tape Bonnie Hunt daily. She is such a refreshing change. Good clean and entertaining fun. I will miss this show.
Ditto to all that’s been said above. I’m a victim of a severely debilitating illness for 10 years now that keeps me bedridden about 80 percent. Usually can’t stand television. I’d rather look at my ceiling than watch most of the crap on the “tube”. So 2 months ago I stumble upon Bonnie’s show and have watched her daily since then. She makes me laugh, challenges me to love, and, as someone else said, I feel like I’ve been with a close friend for an hour. In 10 years I find one jewel among the trash, and they’re taking it… Read more »
I love Bonnie Hunt, watching her show is like going to a girlfriends house for coffee and visiting for an hour. My husband passed away a few months ago and this show is one of the things that bring me joy. I am very sad to hear it is ending.
Many people like myself never knew Bonnie had a show. I discovered it by accident last November and have watched every show since then. I tape every show to watch again in the future. I just saw an ad for a new talk show starring talentless, hatemonger Rosie O’Donnell. Of course she’ll receive plenty of advertisement for her show because she’s controversial—the antithesis of loveable Bonnie Hunt. Bonnie has more comic ability in her pinky finger than O’Donnell has in her big lard a–. Pardon my anger but it ticks me off. Network execs think everyone in America wants to… Read more »
I think the BH show is awesome. Why is that or culture would rather watch other people’s pain and suffering than BH who inspires, laughs, gives back and makes me at least, feel better after seeing her. Ruthie
I do not want to see The Bonnie Hunt Show cancelled. It is the only talk show I tape and watch in the evening. She is funny, smart, and down to earth. What a shame to axe the show.
I will miss the Bonnie Hunt Show very much for so many reasons. Her clean humor, her compassion, and her wonderful personality. Her crew is terrific and you always feel good not only while you are watching her program but afterward as well. I for one will miss her.
Bonnie Hunt is one of those rare celebrities whom which can get me to watch a movie/show that I normally wouldn’t, simply because she’s in it! Her warmth and humor are real, not manufactured and turn on and off for an audience (i.e. Eddie Murphy). Of course, that’s the kind of quality that Faketown frowns upon.
Love the Bonnie Hunt show. It’s clean, funny and helps you forget all the other crap that is going on and is on TV! Can’t we somehow keep it on the air?
I have always loved Bonnie Hunt and watched the different TV shows she has had. She is very comical, as well as her staff. The show is good, clean, and funny. Too bad the networks can’t see that.
What a disappointment! With all the crap on TV that could/should be GONE – they get rid of one of the best shows that we have available to watch. Bonnie is honest, compassionate and down-to-earth entertaining. Whoever made the decision to cancel the show should have their head examined!!!
I did not know Bonnie Hunt had a show until I found it by accident last month. Since then I have been watching it every day except for when they put on Ellen during the olympics. Then I watched the news. I really love The Bonnie Hunt Show. I beg the networks to please, please not cancel this really bright spot on afternoon TV. When Carl Reiner was a guest on her show he said he knew people and would see if he could keep her on. I hope that somebody does something to keep this really terrific show on… Read more »
Same situation with me. Didn’t know about it til 2 months ago. Watched it every day since. Record it on my dvr.
I love her show but it is on at 2 in the afternoon where I live and that is not a good time at all. She should either be on early, around 9am or the 4 p.m. slot.
That’s the problem. She IS on the times that you prefer, but not in your area. She is on at 9AM EST. in PA. There are also people that are able to view her on evenings. The schedule and advertising are so antiquated, that it is surprising that anyone is able to view her at all. Rather than a bright network realizing this-picking up her show-advertising the times, just as it does for other programming, she would continue to be a great show. This is too difficult obviously for the powers that be, so instead –Bonnie is gone.
We just LOVE the Bonnie Hunt Show….
WHO is the person/persons that cancelled one of the BEST Shows the Network has
FINALLY put on….would you believe this?
Probably not too smart “KIDS”……REALLY SAD SITUATION…..
All they want is smut/sex on the shows….NOW THAT IS REALLY SICK.
Still watching the Bonnie Hunt SHOW..and LOVING IT.

Bonnie Hunt’s show should not be cancelled. I love the show. I can’t imagine a more sincere family oriented funny heartwarming show. Please do not cancel this show.
