The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

We’re devastated to learn of the ridiculous and purely $$$-driven decision to cancel Bonnie Hunt’s show. Her show has proven a delightful and REAL alternative to so-called competitors. In fact, we refuse to watch any replacement, since there simply is no substitute for her down-to-earth show and personality. Tamara and Mark Larsen
I love the show. Bonnie and her crew are funny. The humor is geared toward a more mature audience and it’s always positive and upbeat which makes it different from anything else. It’s on at 2:00 pm in my town which I would think is a perfect time for her target audience. I have friends that feel the same way…. I’m sorry to see it end.
This news is super disappointing! She’s been a breath of fresh air!
So sorry to hear The Bonnie Hunt Show has been cancelled, she can make a bad day feel better after watching her. I`m so disappointed, looked forward to watching her every day. Hope she gets another show soon. She has such a big heart and is a genuine person and is so funny.
My husband and I watch Bonnie’s show every day. If we cannot watch it, we tape it. I look forward to her show everyday. She is just a regular down to earth celebrity who certainly has a lot of charisma, humanity, and caring for her crew, audience, family, etc. The episodes with her mother are wonderful. I am a baby boomer and can relate to the stories she tells about her childhood and just everyday experiences. She seems very approachable as does everyone on her show. We think she has a wonderful show and it is a shame sit is… Read more »
I CANNOT believe that they would cancel the best daytime talk show on television – Bonnie Hunt. I look forward to watching her every week day. I love this show. I love her mom, I love her staff. The show just feels good. Bonnie radiates genuine warmth and generosity. You can tell she and her staff are one big family. The humor is so refreshing and clean. This is the only talk show that my kids can watch with me. (About a month ago, my young children and I were walking in the door ((from school)). Ellen was on the… Read more »
I just love the Bonnie Hunt show! Can only watch it when I’m note working, but love it. One of the best shows on…with all the junk on TV. What a great person she is….and so funny. Just figures, I guess. Not “edgy” enough..in your face…raunchy. Too bad!
I love the Bonnie Hunt show! Don’t take her off!! Gid Rid of Martha!!
Wow I just learned the news that the Bonny Hunt show has been cancelled. This is such a disappointment! I’ve been unemployed for a year and Bonny’s show has provided me with so many laughs on days when my job search has been overwhelming! Bonny is so real and genuine and comes across as someone who is real and approachable. I love her interaction with her crew and how she puts them on the air. And, I love the Alice segments. It’s a real family affair. No offense to Oprah and Ellen but you don’t see them interacting with their… Read more »
The Bonnie Hunt Show is one of the very best talk shows on television and it is a BIG mistake to take this show off. She is the funniest, most quick witted, genuine, loving, caring, dynamic, CLEAN entertainer I’ve ever watched with good morals and a true love for family, friends and the Godly principles this country was founded on. And Bonnie’s staff exuberates zeal, enthusiasm and the love for their job and others that you seldom see on TV today. They seem more like family than just part of some cast. This show is such an “uplifting” experience. Low… Read more »
amen! Me too!
Bonnie…please find a way to come back! You should be on in prime time as far as I’m concerned. The fact that your show has been cancelled is a sad commentary on the taste level of the viewing public. Your lightning quick wit and classy interaction with your guests and audience is so refreshing. I hope and pray that you, your crew and your darling mother will be back soon!
Bonnie Hunt show is the most entertaining and funny show since the Dick Van Dike show. She is an incredable lady. I will miss her show and hope that it will return.
Please, please leave the Bonnie Hunt Show on the air. This is one show with any common decency left. What are you thinking? Bonnie, hope you can find your show on cable??? I will miss you SO much! Madeline
I love the Bonnie Hunt show. She has such a refreshing wholesome approach to relating to her audience. I love her humor. The other shows deal with too much DRAMA and otherwise just plain garbage. Those shows being Oprah and Ellen, which I never watch. Please someone keep Bonnie on the air.
Thank You, BJ
I LOVE the Bonnie Hunt show. She has so much heart. It is a big mistake to cancel it.
