If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
I hope the rumors are wrong. I would love to see the show renewed for another season. It is totally unfair to bounce it around as it has been and still rate the show
The uniforms are never starched and pressed! What happened to military bearing? The Marines are some of the best dressed soldiers in the Armed Forces. Get it together and starch and press the uniforms! It’s a distraction from what’s already a poorly written and slow to develop story line.
I don’t want the show to be cancelled.
Yes, I think this show needs to have a chance.
Unless they can find a good military advisor it needs to be cancelled. The show is disrespectful to the military in general and the US Navy and the Marine Corps in particular.
My husband and I love the show. Please bring it back.
CBS, please keep this show. it is truly refreshing and needs to be given a chance.
Thank you.
CBS also canceled “JAG” after one season, but later picked it up, and it ran for 9 seasons! “JAG” was a great show, and “The Code” can be, too! Mid-season replacements frequently do not do well. “The Code” deserves a 2nd season that debuts in the Fall of 2019. Let it find its audience, and perhaps do some cross-overs with the NCIS franchise. The original “NCIS” could stand some help–it has been decimated by the exit of the best members of its cast–Gibbs, of course, excepted! Bring back Ziva, Tony, and Abby, first–then give “The Code” the chance it deserves!… Read more »
NBC canceled JAG and CBS picked it up. Ziva is returning (guess you missed season final). Tony-in his own show. Abby is now in her own show. And there maybe something with JAG in pipe line. Studio/CBS would not be running a three show mini-arc, which is a pilot, within NCSI:LA without a rather good reason.
I truly like this show. The Code should be renewed for another season. Make this happen CBS
i like the characters and the actors who play them. pleases give it a chance.
This show should be cancelled. It has episodes where the person being defendeds lawyer, gives evidence to the prosecuting lawyer. Indont think real life is anything like that. Probably not legal.
It started out pretty bad but showed steady improvement but from a low point. Besides the bad military bearing and uniforms..the story line of Abe banging the widow is very disrespectful to the honor military people have for friends… dispite all of that..I thimk it is deserving of a 2nd season unless CBS plans to reboot JAG..not that wss a great show!
I think show is really great
One of the few shows for entire family
KEEP THE SHOW it is a wonderful series
Give it a chance to find an audience. Some shows take off slow and become hits.
