As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

ABC is a horrible network, learn to play TV series’ in the correct time slots.. I’m sure glad you guys don’t televise sporting events you would probably cancel the NFL.. The Gates is a phenomenal show/series.
Just started watching The Gates on Netflix and I am hooked! I was very diappointed when I found out that they canceled the show 🙁
I am a hardcore faithful CBS watcher for over 30 years. I do not watch any other prime time station shows. The Gates made me an ABC watcher once a week for a season. Now that is telling you that this show caught my interest and held it. I am sad to see it go. I just watched the whole season on Netflix and enjoyed just as much as the first time. I say make a movie. I would go in a heartbeat. Thank you for capturing my attention. And I will be watching the series again this weekend.

I totally agree that the show didnt get alot of advertisement and it was the networks fault it failed. I didnt even know this show exsisted until i came acrossed it on netflicks and was hooked from the first episode. Sucks we are left hanging and trying to figure out what could have happened. At least gives us one more final episode to finish up the story lines.

I too am sad to see the show was canceled. I thoroughly enjoyed all the dynamics and creative writing of the show and will miss all the terrific characters. The show would be a success if season two was written.
I,m tired of ABC canceling all the good shows , The Gates, Eastwick, October Road, They don’t even give them a chance, I think I will watch CBS at least they give their shows more than one or two seasons.. Another station should pick them up , why do they just cancel them, they were really good shows .

Well after watching this season on Netflix I am sorry to see this series go! I was really looking forward to more episodes *sobs*. I don’t have cable so I knew nothing of this show beyond what my friends told me and I was really wanting more episodes. I want to know what happened to all the characters…such a cliffhanger ending. *tears* So upset….Damn ABC DAMN DAMN DAMN…….
The only reason the gates did not do well is because of the time slot. I use to watch it on monday’s on the internet because I was not going to stay up until 10pm on Sunday when I needed to get my rest for work the following day. I’m telling you it is a hit. All of my friends were upset when it was cancelled. Please reconsider putting the series back on the air, in an earlier time slot like, 8pm, no later than 9pm.

This was a really good show, to bad ABC has dropped the show, I don’t think is was the show fault, it was more of a fault on ABC part for not advertising and marketing the show. I remember seeing some clips before it air, then I did not hear anything else and certainly I and probably many other people forgot about it. Hi, I just really want to say PLEASE HAVE SEASON 2 !!! Imma huge fan and so is my family i always make sure i get home early just to see the gates !!! I LOVE ‘THE GATES’ so much the actors and actress are amazing!! PLEASE OH PLEASE make a season 2 and in other words are you really going to give up the show the gates just because viewers are little ? How about all the other fans out there ? Who knows maybe season 2 would be a hit ?!!
i agree…now that people are more into the supernatural type shows i think that season two of the gates would be a hit. It’s deffinetly unfortunate.
i love GATES!!!!!!!! it’s so sexy and it has a lot of hot actors/actresses in it. it’s such a awesome movie. i can never miss a single night without it.
