As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

This show was great. They did the same to Kyle Xy. Can u finish anything besides girl drama ****. If they took a risk they would find out that those two shows would bring more then just preteens but a whole variety of people.
This show was totaly amazing. For as it has made an impact on so many. It does appeal to adults as much as teens, familys finally getting along on what to watch. This show was so intriguing with an plot that could go on forever. It saddens me that ABC didnt even give this flower a chance to blossom. I say we should ban ABC for they are a getting rid of the good shows and leaving us with crap that rotts the brain. Please, will another production take this show and make it what it is destined to be.
ABC used to be my favorite channel, but now since they keep these stupid shows and i agree get rid of the good ones… makes me so mad… I just saw it on netflix never heard of it b4, and man i watch season 1 in one whole day… that blows that its canceled… im so upset with abc… now i remember why i stopped watching abc….

Oh! I think that sucks coz how could Abc just cancel that! At least we haved watched a lot of shows out there which i think wouldn’t have even existed but to my greatest surprise it even came out with season 2,3,4 to 9 thats not encouraging at all not even THE GATES.pls am appealing allow the 2nd season.and pls cast the past behind
PLEASE bring back THE GATES, and do better marketing for it. it really is a great show, may need to move the time slot because of the competition probably takes some of the viewership away (desperate housewives last season, now the good wife, and the hbo sunday nite lineup)…still, better marketing and a new time slot can make this buzzworthy show an award winner!

So sorry to hear there will be no season 2. I know there are alot of vampire/werewolve shows out there. but there is also alot of Doc shows out there too. I thought this show was well written and had an amazing cast. Sad to hear abc did not pick the show back up. makes me think of the xfiles. That show was almost canceled until fans wrote in. Wish that could be the same for this show. I wish the best to all the cast and crew…
ABC cancels all good shows. They suck.
I am very upset that “The Gates” series was cancelled. It was very original and I really enjoyed watching the actors bring the story to life. I would really like to know what would have happened to the chief’s son. when he was brought back from the dead by Devon what had he become? a demon? or something else and what of the Radcliffe? This shows was as good as Dark Shadow and appealed to older adults as well as young adults and teens. I wish the show could be brought back with with a 2nd season. 🙁
I’m so tired of good shows getting canceled and crappy ones getting another season, or starting another new show that isnt good. Just like the “Good Guys” that was a funny cop show and they canceled that one too. The Playboy Club isnt good i just watched an episode and it was crap.
Please bring back The Gates on another network and the Good Guys too..
Was really looking forward the season 2. Sad that they cancelled when it was left with such a great cliff hanger. Its stinks to get hooked on a show and just have it ended like that.

Am really sad and pissed abc wld do this I mean the show is great and has so much potential u could write so much and do a lot with it its one of the best series ever my friends and whole family love so pls abc bring it back or producers take the show to another company its going to win awards and emmys
