As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

This truly upsets me, this show was amazing and definitely original. The problem wasn’t that people didn’t want to watch it, it was that they had it come on so late. They needed to just change the time that it came on, me and my husband both loved this show but with the time that they had it come on my husband wouldn’t get to watch it until the next day because he had to wake up early in the morning but luckily we have dvr so that wasn’t a problem for us.
Srsly grat show gets cancelled and Idol is still on the air? Those Kardashian guys? Wtf?
That’s the problem with regular networks. They are so quick to cancel shows and then replace with reality garbage. I wasn’t aware “The Gates” was cancelled until I decided to google for it’s return date. Perhaps a cable network could pick this up.

I’ve been waiting all season for The Gates to return and now I see it is’nt. I really loved it.Nothing on T.V has that kind of suspense. First “24” now The Gates. I’m through with T.V

I am crushed, that the Gates will not be returning, but I did DVR all of the first seasons episodes, at least that’s something. I was a fantastic show. Dilan is hot.
I have been looking forward to season 2. I am so upset that they cancelled it. This was a great show.
watch anymore shows on abc until they bring it back on. this show was perfect. i dont like watching new shows but i saw a preview and had to watch it. they at least shouldve given them one more season..you know to get it out there in the open for people to see. i havnt heard it until yesterday…from netflix and i finished the whole season in one day

this is rediculouse, this show is amazing they still have it on the abc website…maybe this means they are counting the number of people looking it up maybe they’ll consider bringing it back. please bring this show back it was amazing and i will NOT
I am so disappointed The Gates has been canceled. I agree with all the other comments, tired of all the good shows being canceled after season. I really hope another network would pick up the series and have a season 2 instead of leaving us fans hanging:(. It was a great show with an awesome cast.

why oh why are there generic copycat shows stuck on tv? redundant no-funny or trying to be wild character shows still on. Was The Gates trying to ride the Twilight werewolf/vamp wagon? Heck no! Completely original especially with a succubus and a witchy character on there. Wolf Creek for me-no! Vampire Diaries and True Blood for me-no! The Gates-YES YES YES!
